It is with deep sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Dana Marvin Baker. Marvin was born to his mother Colleen Jean (nee Baker) and Late Benjamin Adam Dick on August 6, 1951 and he passed away at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver on January 14, 2018. He was 66 years of age.
Marvin grew up on Mission IR #1 and attended St. Paul’s Indian Day School. He went on to continue schooling in Washington State. He worked for Horns Brothers Mill as well as BC Rail in North Vancouver but will best be remembered for his carving and teachings of the art of carving authentic traditional Squamish works. Marvin is survived by and will be dearly missed by his loving mother Colleen Lewis (nee: Baker); special friend Wendy Charbonneau (nee: Johnston); daughter Lila (Denny Castilloux) and son Marvin; special daughter-in-law Rebecca; grandchildren Breeann (Cypress), Dennis (Danica), Mandelyn (Quinton), Ethan; brother Robert ‘Bosco’ Kelly (Noreen); special grandchildren Sarah, Natalie, Michael & Nellie; and great grandchildren Cira, Celinall, Dreyden and Daxxstynn; nieces & nephews Renia, Lisa, Angie, Candace, Joseph, Anthony, Kyle and Darrell; and many loving relatives and dear friends. A prayer service will be held at Chief Joe Mathias Centre, 100 Capilano Road, North Vancouver on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 AT 7:00 pm; and a funeral service on Thursday January 18, 2018 at 10:00 am.
