I knew Dave when I started working at VGH Hospital for 2 1/2 years approximate since Year 2005, when graduating from High School, back then when I was a security officer grunt in the security force serving our hospital in Vancouver.

Dave Razak was a true brother to me during my time at VGH, before me transferring to St Paul's Hospital. 

Dave was a great friend to me when on shift, Dave showed me everything at VGH and Dave provide me with great job  training and job advice and career wisdom. 

I will always remember with great memories of Dave for his kind heart and soul and Daves kind ways when we ordered late night shift night pizzas every night shift enjoying late night Tim's Hortons Coffee's and Dounuts and chicken and Cokes.

 I remember when I was feeling down and pressured on a specific day at the workplace  after a tireless day and Dave bought me a coke and gave it to me for free and spoke to me and provided kind soul advice.

 I can honestly say that I loved Dave with all my heart as both coworker and good friend, it makes me begin to cry thi king about hot much Dave meant to me sincerely. 

You "Dave Razak" will always be in my heart Dave forever! I am going to greatly miss you Brother, Love Coworker Tristan RIP and Condolences with high respects to Dave family through the great difficult times. 

I remember Dave from Argyle. So sad to hear about his passing, condolences to his family!

I've worked with Dave for almost four years now and it's been difficult to adequately describe how much he meant to not only the security team at VGH but all of the staff members. Dave was such a loving, generous and kind person to everybody he met. 

Dave would always come 90 minutes before his shift and would catch up on sports or talk to anybody who came into the office and ask all about our days or what was going on in our life. He took the time to know each officer, as well as staff members throughout the hospital. I will miss our chats (him distracting me from getting my work done), and I will miss him smiling in the office and handing me a box of cookies and tell me to eat them.

My fondest memories of Dave are when he talked about how he hung out with Danish friends on the weekends and how much he loved eating all of the Danish foods. Being Danish, this always brought a smile to my face and I enjoyed the moments we spoke about it. 

Thanks for entertaining me for all these years and treating us like we were family. Jeg vil savne dig

Dave was my best friend through high school and early adulthood.  We played and coached soccer together.  We coached a team from  u6 to u11 with the Lynn Valley soccer club.   The kids loved him and his gentle manner.  As a player he was fast on the wing and capable of scoring game winning goals.   He spent many christmases and holidays with my family and my mother just loved him and his appetite.   He was best man at my wedding.   We lost contact for a long period and I was so happy that we regained contact a year ago when he managed to make it to my mothers 86th birthday.  It made my mother extremely happy.   When he arrived everyone was greeted with warm huge hugs..... it was so good to see you that one last time.
          Rest In Peace Dave.   My friend always.  

I wasn't a regular officer at VGH when I first met Dave. I picked up random shifts and I remember Dave being the officer who always took the time to talk to me and check how I was doing. 3 years later, I became a regular at VGH and he still makes time every day to come and check in on me. He will always be remembered as the officer who made everyone feel welcomed and loved at VGH. 

He has made a huge impact to not only the Security Team but has also become an iconic figure for everyone at VGH. 

We will miss you Dave, thank you for all the wonderful memories we have shared together.

To the Razak family; my sincere condolences and prayers for your loss.  When I came in to work at 630 am on Saturday I walked through the Emergency Dept only to hear the news that Dave had passed.  It was not the news I wanted to hear first thing but couldn't help but think of the positive impact he had not only with the Paladin family, but with the people he worked with throughout VGH .  He was always positive, happy, easy going, always took the time to say hello, and always asked how you were; no matter what position you held at the hospital.  He treated everyone equally. His hard work and enthusiasm really set the tone for the Paladin group. We will all miss you Dave! RIP

I know that I am the oldest brother, but David was really my big brother. He was like brother to everyone he met, rich or poor. Always generous with what he had, and ready listen to whatever you had to say. I will never forget my brother David, because of too many great memories. Will always remember him for being an honest kind person to just about everyone he met.

Dave and I worked together at VGH for the last 3 years and he was truly one of my favourite people to work with. Every time I saw Dave, he was always so happy and I never once saw him without a smile on his face. 

My favourite memory of Dave was when he came to visit me when I was a patient at VGH. When he arrived onto the unit staff asked him, ' aw, is that your little angel?' and he responded by saying, 'yup thats her!' with no hesitation. 

Dave had the kindest heart and he has truly left a void in my life.

David Errol Shafie Razak and I had worked together for the last 17 years or so. We have had enormous memories which are haunting me at this event of his sudden demise. I am in shock and saddened to hear this terrible loss of a friend and co worker. 
My deepest condolences. May the almighty God console the entire family.

While I've only been at VGH for a short time, Dave has already made a strong impact on me. He was very friendly and welcoming, I really felt like part of the team. I remember Dave used to come in at least a few hours early every shift and just hang out with the team. He loved the Paladin family and Vancouver General Hospital. 
Dave is one of the most genuine people I've ever met. His sudden passing has left us all with a huge void. We will miss him very dearly.

I truly believe it's hard and unique to find such a man who's always so positive and kind hearted. 
My time with you at VGH and throughout my career have been a memorable one and can't forget all of the countless times that you brought smiles to my face and everyone else's. 
Your presence has alway been such a bright light in our lives and I hope that all of us can carry on this fire.

I spent the majority of my time at Paladin working with Dave; he was always in good spirits and was never shy about sharing his chicken and pop.

I remember attending to an urgent call with Dave while I was still very new, we left the office at the same time and I ran ahead of him and took the stairs to avoid waiting for the elevator. When I got on scene I saw Dave standing there nonchalantly standing by. It blew my mind how quickly he got there without breaking a sweat.

I met Dave in 2007 as my security supervisor and worked with him into 2009. I remember him for his kind heart, soft chuckle and good sense of humor. There were nights when we would get so busy in emergency at VGH that he would make sure we all ate and buy the team pepperoni pizza and a 6 pack of coca cola. 

The nurses would always be after this big loveable guy to stay healthy and he would usually find away to escape, pizza in hand. 

In recent years he got a lot healthier and I was able to touch base with him again recently. Still the same big ol friendly Dave. He was a staple of both the Paladin Security and VGH family. 

I will always be thankful for the moments when he saved me from injury more than once on aggression calls in the hospital and made sure he kept everyone safe. It was also so impressive how nothing shook this guy. We would have people who were angry, on drugs, in our faces and he would just get the call done so we can take a break and order...pizza. 

I'll miss him, wish there were more days in a year to say hi over the past couple of months. 

Take care Dave, 
You will be missed and leave a gaping hole in the VGH family.

I have worked with Dave for the past 4 years at VGH. One thing that I can say about Dave is that he was always so cheerful and happy. I can honestly say that I have never seen him in a bad mood. He always brought such a positive vibe wherever he went and made friends with people from all walks of life. 

My favourite memory of Dave would definitely be the night that he was trying  to help a fellow officer jump start their car. Dave underestimated his strength and ended up breaking off the cars emblem!  It was quite funny when Dave handed him that Toyota sign and said "Hey, I think I broke this..."

The sudden passing of Dave has hit us very hard at VGH and we will miss Dave tremendously. I am sure he will be watching over all of us while he enjoying a nice cold Stella; except on Sundays of course because as anyone that knows Dave, knows that Sundays are for Football!! Go Raiders!

RIP Dave. You may be gone, but will never be forgotten.
