I had the pleasure of working with Dean in a casual position at YYE (Fort Nelson) over the past number of years, and my wife and I would see him at the airport as we came and went on CMA flight.

We always had time for a good talk and he was ALWAYS excited to show me his most recent wildlife photos.

Some of those were highlighted in the Fort Nelson News recently, and he planned to put more in the paper about an owl he was able to release back into the wild. Some details on this along with his memorial will appear in the next newspaper.

His connection with the OWL Rehabilitation Society was growing, and it really energized him. He had many stories of wildlife he had assisted, and Dean had become the main contact for that Society in the far north.

After he got his first drone a few years ago, he captured footage of the dogsled races at Parker Lake, and the SYD train bridge. At one point in August 2017 I saw a black drone with a light flashing underneath flying over my house around 9 p.m . On a hunch, I texted him to see if he had his drone out and sure enough that was him! A couple years ago, Dean assisted with some drone footage for my small business and it took very little editing to turn it into a high quality professional product.

He was particularly excited after he got to drive a Porsche, a Ferrari and a McLaren in Vegas in 2018. I think that was very personally fulfilling for him. Of course he was equally passionate about his bikes.

Much of Deans work can be seen on his YouTube channel.

I wake up at night sometimes and can't believe he's gone. It's so surreal. I know from talking to his friends and acquaintances in Fort Nelson that he will be missed.

Our condolences to his Mom and his Family for this tragic loss of a fine man.

Dean was our Station Manager in Fort Nelson, and although, I've only met him a couple of times, his kindness and big heart shown through. Dean was a dedicated volunteer up North and someone who everyone couldn't help but love. I'll always remember his welcoming ways and his interesting plane stories. We will miss you, Dean!

I was so sorry to hear about Dean. As my mom Bev mentioned, he was a friend of our family's many years ago. I knew Dean when I was in high school and have some fun memories of him. He was a very nice guy and I'm sure this will leave a hole for those left behind. May the memories you all have bring some smiles and ease some of the sense of loss. My deepest condolences.
