Dennis Noel Burgess

His father had a career in the army so the family lived in many places…Edmonton AB, Cold Lake AB, Whitehorse Yukon, and London England and Vancouver BC.

Dennis started losing his hearing when he was about nine years old. They lived in Whitehorse at the time and he was flown to Edmonton with a high fever, and the mumps. Shortly after it was noticed that his hearing had been affected. The high fever had dried the fluid in his ears and damaged nerve endings. From then on his hearing grew progressively worse until just before he passed away he had qualified for a cochlear implant and had been given a surgery date of September 23, 2016.

Dennis married Gloria in 1961. They had three daughters….Whitney. Hilary and Adrienne.

Dennis worked as a meat cutter for several years and then at UGG for 22 years.

He made friends easily ,of all ages, and was always interested in their families. work and hobbies.

He passionately enjoyed fishing and had many fishing buddies. He was also interested in cars and restored, with the help of friends, a couple of vintage Corvettes.

He was always a loving father and husband who enjoyed his family immensely. He was very fond of his grandchildren. Angus, Millicent, Bohdan and Bronwyn.

Febuary 16, 1941 - August 11, 2016

Dennis passed away suddenly at home in Vancouver on Thursday morning, August 11, 2016. He will be sadly missed by wife Gloria, daughters Whitney (Dave), Hilary (Jeff), Adrienne (Ron), grandchildren Angus, Millicent, Bohdan and Bronwyn, nephews Tyler (Lana) and Brandon, nieces Alyssa and Jody, great-granddaughter Kiley.

Predeceased by parents Laural and Jack Burgess, sister Pat and brother Dale.

Dennis worked as a meatcutter for 20 plus years then another 22 years as a grain handler at UGG. He was an avid steelhead fisherman and Corvette fanatic. After retiring, he especially loved visiting and helping family and friends.

A Memorial service will be held Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Hamilton Harron, 5390 Fraser Street, Vancouver.
