

Late Diane Dolores Johnston - aka Jimmy (nee Seward)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Diane Dolores Johnston. Diane passed away surrounded by love of family and friends on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver. Diane was born in Naniamo, BC to her parents Elizabeth (nee Jack) and Charles Seward. She grew up in Kulleet Bay also known as Chemainus Bay and married her Late husband Jerry Jimmy at an early age and together had many children. Diane was well known in Nanaimo where she pulled canoe on the Shadow and held championship for 10 years.
In the early 90’s Diane came to North Vancouver where she married Donald Lewis Johnston. Together they made their home on Squamish Nation’s Capilano Indian Reserve No. 5 and were well known by neighbours for their affectionate nature towards each other as they could be seen walking hand and hand, attending shaker services or community events .
Diane is survived by her brother Jack Seward (Edith); sister Marge Edwards (Floyd); children Clementine Jimmy (Alex), Elphina Jimmy (Junior), Geraldine Jimmy (George) and Diane Jimmy; grandchildren Adam Jimmy (Joanna), Stewart Jimmy, Sophia Bagley, Darcy Bagley, William Bagley, and Cecilia Bagley, Jerry Jimmy, Harvey Seymour III, Ryan Seymour, Dylan Seymour, Kyra Seymour and Craig Seymour; great grandchildren Laticha Williams and Quinton Sampson; stepchildren Daryl and Donna Johnston.
