Hi Duane—-Bee here😀

I just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you today because of your passing 3 years ago which I was unaware of.  The family only found out July 2022. Had I known  - I just wanted you to know that I would have been there to hold your hand and comfort you in your final days for a brother I had always looked up to and admired.

I choose to celebrate your birthdays as I have many great memories of you and how you loved your hockey and music and you were always a protective and kind brother to me. I planted a lilac tree on your 61st birthday this summer in your honour and look forward to seeing it blossom and grow.

I am a granny now with 2 grandchildren (Max and Taylor)  and will make sure that your memory is passed on. You became a great- uncle in 2017.

I miss you my brother and wish that we had more visits as adults— 
but you have a place in my heart forever. I love and miss you, and I 
look forward to your next birthday where I will celebrate your life with a toast of fine wine ❤️💐 Rest in Peace my Big Brother 

Sadly it has been 3 years since your passing. Your family is still grieving your loss, but are still so thankful for the loving kind care you received in palliative care.

In loving memory of Duane Kevin Goeson  (August 20, 1961 - January 28, 2020 who passed away in Vancouver, BC after a brief stay in the hospital. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Destiny who shares the same birthday as her dad, sisters Briana (Orville), Cammy (Robert), and Shelley, and brother Shane. He will also be missed by his nieces Charmaine, Christal, Lora, and Sky, and his nephews Robert, Jeremy and Ronnie. He also leaves behind aunts, uncles and many cousins and friends. 
He is predeceased by his grandparents Froman and grandparents Goeson, his mother Debra in 2001 and his father Brian in 2004.
You have touched many people along your journey and you will be missed by all. We love you Duane ❤️💐🌞💕🌹🌸🎈

Happy 61st birthday my brother. This year would have been your platinum birthday (born in 1961 and turning 61 years old). I love and miss you Duane. I am hoping that you will visit me in a dream so that I can give you a hug and tell you  how much you have always meant to me . I am so thankful that the nurses in palliative care were with you to provide you with comfort and kind care.  You are at peace now and are resting in a beautiful spot 🙏💐❤️

Oh Duane, by now you know how hard it is to lose a special person in your life...I wish I had been able to attend your,e, oral in BC, but time and expense forbade me, as did a lack of invitation. I wish that we could spend another evening together with you babysitting me, in your fort in the back of Sydney Street in Winnipeg. I had so much fun sneaking in only to be "thrown out!!" Do you remember the time you arranged for Brian to take me to the Exhibition? You both made me feel really special and grown up. Today is my brother Ronnie's 56th birthday, he is buried here with my Grandfather Black in Saint John. I wish we had stayed closer to each other. Uhh, Duane...I miss you, but i know you are in the loving arms of our Mother, has she learned to love being a mother yet? In any event, I know without a doubt that he is happy to have both of her sons togethe again...hugs and kisses to all of you, Shelley

Ahh Duane it’s auntie Ginny here.   
Only a week or so ago Cammy sent me a message telling of your passing.  I was devastated. I thought of you so often over the years Duane but I guess you were travelling around a lot so I could never find you. 
I first met you when you had just passed your 2nd birthday.  You were a handsome, solemn little fella with expressive brown eyes and the sweetest smile.   I joined your mom & dad’s home way up in the North West Territories. We had so much fun playing  in the snow we  dressed warm and cosy you in your blue snowsuit & me with the warm hooded parka  your mommy bought for me.  I was 16  fresh out of residential school and I found the freedom exhilarating in that vast beautiful place.  Then the flood happened and we went our separate ways for a few years.  There were many other happy times in Winnipeg years later.  Then I moved to Toronto to be closer to your aging  grandma Froman.  The last time I saw you was at  your surprise visit here. You were 19 and already a tiny bit taller than your uncle Del but just as handsome.  
I hope you had a good life my dearest nephew the only one I have.  Rest In peace now. ♥️ Love Aunt Ginny and your cousins Michelle and Lisa and Patricia ♥️

Duane was my nephew and it was with deep sadness that I learned of his passing.  Duane was never forgotten by his Grandma and Grandpa Goeson and myself.
My memories of Duane mostly touched on his childhood, when I was still living at home.
Duane’s Mom and Dad brought him down from Ft. Simpson, N.W.T. to his Grandparents Goeson’s home in Alberta.  Duane lived with us from circa January 1963 to June 1963. Duane fell in love with his Grandparents and they with him. The late April 1963 flood of Ft. Simpson, N.W.T. brought Duane’s Mom, Dad, and Briana to the Grandparents Goeson’s home in Alberta. They stayed there for a few weeks and then purchased a home about four miles away so we had lots of visit time.  
I have a memory of babysitting Duane and his sisters – they were such sweet children.  The Grandparents Goeson loved Duane, Briana, and Cammy dearly and were heartbroken when they moved to another province in 1965.  Grandma Goeson passed away in 1971 and never saw her beloved Grandchildren again.
Duane stayed with his Grandfather Goeson most of the 1972 summer and that is the last physical memory I have of Duane.  Grandpa Goeson always kept track somehow of Duane and his siblings and always seemed to know where everyone was and what they were doing.  Duane phoned his Grandpa, who was living in the U.S.A., circa 1993 and they had a phone visit; which I’m sure was treasured by Grandpa Goeson, who passed away in 1996.
Duane started life as the sweet boy I remember and has now lived his life journey.   I hope he has found comfort and harmony on the other side. I’m sure Duane’s Mom and Dad, Grandpa and Grandma Goeson (Grampy and Grammy), Grandparents Froman, and many who passed before him were there to greet him with loving arms at heaven’s door.

Ok Duane was my cousin but I’m only finding out about his death now??!! It’s like July 18/22!  What happened to my cousin?? Even his siblings, Aunt & other cousins just found this out. Please let us know what happened!

Today is another hard day for me. It has only been 10 days since I learned of your passing, but it still feels like yesterday. I remember us as kids and the only way you would let me hang out with you was to be the goalie when you were playing hockey in the back lane. I didn’t mind though because it was a way to hang out with my big brother who I thought was the coolest guy I knew! 
You always loved sports, playing guitar, and listening to music. I remember you listening to the radio and then you would pick up the guitar and start singing and playing the song like you had practiced before. You have many gifts and you touched many people along your path. You are not just my brother, you are a son, a father, an uncle, a nephew, a cousin and even a great-uncle. Although I didn’t see you  as much as we got older — I thought of you often. You are always loved  and will always have a place in my heart. You are with Mom and Dad now and I hope you have found peace. 💐❤️

It has been just over a week finding out about Duane's passing. Each day seems to get a bit harder to realize he is no longer with us. For a long while, Duane lived up island from me and he then  made his way to Vancouver. We lost touch after my Mom's passing in 2001, and the last I heard from him was in 2004. Although we were not in touch, he was always on my mind, and I wondered how he was. 
Duane was a protective big brother to me and he had a presence. Tall and good-looking, and with a quiet voice, you knew that he would do anything for you if you asked. Duane loved basketball, but his big love was hockey. Duane would turn any utensil into a "hockey stick" and play hockey on tables, the floor, etc. 
I miss you and love you, big brother. You are now with our Mom - happy and no longer in any physical or emotional pain. You had a great impact on my life and those around you, and you will be forever missed and always loved.
Briana and I will be honoring you at a private Celebration of Life on Vancouver Island on July 25, 2022, a place you called home for many years. Duane, you will be greatly missed and always in our hearts. Rest in Peace.

Didn't really get to know Duane but I remember he made it to Inuvik when I was a young boy.  Duane was my half-brother. Rest in peace brother 🙏

Duane was/is my oldest sibling. As children we were as close as the youngest child could be to the oldest; .we spent a lot of time together so it is with a heavy heart that I lose my brother on my birthday. I Love you Duane
