It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, and Kung Kung Eanson on June 22, 2024 in Vancouver, BC. Eanson is survived by his wife Cindy, daughters Adeline (Adam), Karina (Mickey), and Megan, grandchildren Félix, Oscar, Zella, and Dre, as well as his brother Peter (Yee), sisters Lucia and Grace (Chuck), and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son-in-law, Francis.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Eanson attended Kowloon Technical School, where he was a member of the photography, fencing, and judo clubs and was a Boy Scout leader. He played drums in a band covering popular music of the time, earning the nickname Ringho Starr. He came to Canada in 1968 to attend BCIT and graduated from the Civil Engineering Technology program. He went on the complete a BS in Civil Engineering from UWaterloo and a MBA from UBC. He took much pride working as a traffic engineer for 40+ years, with his work ranging from BC and Ontario to as far as China and Peru.
Eanson will be remembered for his love of golf, history programs, kiatsu, cappuccinos, and good food. Eanson never forgot his early days on his own in Vancouver and as a result, always welcomed others into his home. Many of us have fond memories around the dinner table, enjoying Eanson’s home cooking and latest creations. Eanson was the kind of person who believed that anything could be achieved; he had a solution to any problem and that usually began with making sure we were well fed. We will miss his fearlessness in the kitchen, his generosity, his creative thinking, and his calm stoicism.
“If the sun has faded away, I’ll try to make it shine, there is nothing I won’t do. When you need a shoulder to cry on, I hope it will be mine – call me tonight and I’ll come to you.” – The Beatles
At the request of the deceased, no funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
