Elisabeth Frances Formosa

Elisabeth was a visual artist and a poet. She loved music, painted watercolours, and found happiness in singing. Her kind, generous and joyful spirit was evidenced in her genuine ability to empathize with and care for others. She was intuitive, and a great person to have a conversation with. You would have liked her.

Elisabeth was born in Victoria and raised in Jordan River and Port Alice. These early years surrounded by the grand nature of the Pacific west coast produced both a deep resonance with nature and a carefree attitude to rain. As she approached her teen years, her family moved to the Vancouver area – first to Burnaby and later to West Vancouver. The years and decades that followed were filled with the adventures of modern life, mostly in Vancouver but also for a time in the Kootenays. Then in her forty-fifth year, she was ambushed and captured by multiple sclerosis. For the next thirty-three years MS tightened its grip. However, Elisabeth’s cheerful, positive outlook on life prevailed, and with this strength, she lived life to her fullest potential, despite the limitations imposed on her by MS. On September 23, 2023 she passed away peacefully at home in Vancouver with her husband at her side.

Elisabeth was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Flora Corman of Parksville, BC. She is survived by her husband Peter Grant of Vancouver, her son Alexander Formosa of Montreal, her brother John Corman (Siri) of Nanaimo, BC and her brother Donald Corman (Holly) of Montreal.

We want to express our most heartfelt thanks to the caring and sensitive nurses and care aides from the Three Bridges Community Health Centre of Vancouver Coastal Health who supported Elisabeth over many years and particularly in her final days.
