It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved wife, Esther Mei Mei Chiu (趙梁美美), on April 13, 2025, at the age of 83.
Esther is survived by her husband, Paul Kam Shing Chiu (趙錦城); their three daughters, Carey (趙慧嫻) and her husband Stanley Ng (吳焯軍), Cybil (趙慧詩) and her husband Lobo Cheung (張兆龍), and Christine (趙慧璣) and her partner Jarvis Nigelsky; and three grandchildren, Sean Ng (吳國聰), Cassandra Cheung (張嘉日), and Isaac Cheung (張綽日).
Esther's remarkable journey began with her graduation from Baptist College in Hong Kong, followed by a Master's degree at the University of Ottawa in the late 1960s. She furthered her education in Library Studies in Montreal and worked as a Medical Librarian at Queen Mary Hospital in Hong Kong. Despite her busy career, we built a life together, raising our three accomplished daughters, who brought us immense joy and satisfaction. We were also blessed with three amazing grandchildren. Esther's passion for painting and Chinese calligraphy brought her great pleasure and were her favorite pastimes.
Our life's journey took us to Montreal, Hong Kong, Toronto, and eventually Vancouver, where we settled in retirement. We've lived a full and rewarding life together, filled with cherished memories. Esther is forever loved and always in my heart. Love, Paul.
