Mom passed away surrounded by her family, due to complications from Covid. She is predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Don in July 2020. She is also predeceased by her daughter Melissa Sullivan, parents Lucienne and Frank Lane, brothers Alan, Clifford, Lloyd and sister Judy. She leaves behind her devastated family, sons Michael and Mitchell, daughters Lynette (Dan) and Deborah, grandchildren Angela (Geoff), Michael and Mitchell Jr. (MJ) and great grandchildren Roman and Violet. She also leaves her loving family in Manitoba, brothers Gerry (Sherry), Eddie (Colleen), sister Joan and countless nieces and nephews.
Mom moved to Sioux Lookout at 19 years old to work in a diner, met a handsome American Airforce man and married our Dad six months later and built the most beautiful life and family over the next 60 years. As children, and adults, we could not have been more loved and supported than we were. She always ensured that each one of us had exactly what we needed, she was the driving force in our lives.
Mom was the best athlete of us all, playing softball and volleyball with teammates much younger and playing into her 50's, while receiving many MVP trophies along the way. The friends she made during those times were incredibly important to her and it allowed her to get away from the craziness which was the 5 of us kids.
Mom was loved by so many people, most of our friends became her friends. She was kind, humble, loving, a great listener and always wanting to help others. She spent time assisting seniors in the community, volunteering for the CWL and donating to countless charities. When she was asked what animal she would be and she said "a seeing eye dog, so that I could help others" that sums her up beautifully, the empathy that we will all miss so much.
"A mother holds her children's hands for a while, their hearts forever"
We will be having a Celebration of Life in August by invite only. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Moms name to Covenant House or the Food Bank.
