Tsi Chung Francis Ling was born on May 26, 1926 in Shanghai, China, to Dr. Chung San Ling and Xei Ying Chui.
After completing his senior matriculation, Francis went on to and graduated medical school in Shanghai.
Francis then emigrated first to Macao, then on to Hong Kong, met his future wife, Ang Show Elena Tung and married in 1954.
Francis and Elena had five children, Paul, Francisca, Lucia, Louis, and Angela. Francis continued to work as a physician in Hong Kong until 1973.
In September of 1973, Francis and Elena moved their family from Hong Kong to Vancouver, BC Canada. All of his children finished their education and settled in Vancouver.
Francis was never able to become licensed as a physician in Canada, and in this way made a great sacrifice to move his family to this new chosen country.
Francis remained the patriarch of the family, much loved and respected by all, both near and far.
He was an intelligent, humorous, humble, and selfless man, who believed in helping others. In his lifetime of good works, he sought no recognition or reward.
Those of us still living, his family and friends, know what a kind and decent man he was. He influenced each of us in such positive ways, and we will all miss him profoundly.
A service for Dr. Tsi Chung Francis Ling will be held at the Gardens of Gethsemani in Surrey, British Columbia, on Saturday May 8, 2021 at 11:30 am, followed by the interment of ashes.
