My husband Mike told me that if it is not because of Uncle Gordon and Aunt Susan, his parents will not be able to come to Canada. 
When the Kwai family arrived in Canada in 1969, Uncle Gordon and Aunt Susan took good care of the newly arrived family until they settled down in Canada.  Uncle Gordon has always been kind, gentle and soft spoken to us.  Whenever we meet (either in Toronto or Vancouver), Uncle will always have a gentle smile on his face.  
Uncle Gordon, we will remember your kindness and thoughtfulness. You have a special place in our hearts and we will miss you!

Gordie was a special friend always interested in the lives of his family and friends.
He loved nature,wildlife and farming. He could be a part of conversations concerning so many walks of life.
I enjoyed our visit in 2024 so much.Reminiscing of those years long ago.Him watching some of my first wildlife videos and taxidermy on Brian’s great horned owl.
I’m sure Gordie and Jim will meet again and go driving.

Condolences from the Stanley family. I have many memories of visiting with Gordon and Susan at their cafe in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan in the early 1960’s and later at their home in Vancouver. My parents Wes and Sylvia were very fond of Gordon and his beautiful family.

Susan and family, we (the Tymchaks) extend our condolences with heavy hearts.  Our mom, Johanna, though passed on, would want us especially to extend her love at this time.  You and Gordon, and your family were so much part of our lives – far from the city in a small prairie town – the town of Edam, SK.  Along with the pain of your loss, and ours, Gordon’s passing brings back so many memories.  Gordon was always sociable, a devoted father and husband, a master chef, a successful farmer and business man … but, above all, a friend.  Be assured that the town, the land and his many friends will always cherish his memory.  His cheerful smile and the delight he took in working his land will remain a treasured legacy.  May God give you strength and encouragement in this time of grief.  Gordon’s life, and yours, has touched so many of us, so deeply, back here on the prairies.  He will be sorely missed, but not forgotten.

Almost every day at VanDusen, Gordon would stop to say hello. He always had a smile on his face, no matter how bad the weather was, and would always take the time to chat and to listen. Gordon lived a long, full life, and will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched - myself very much included.

Thinking of You with Deepest Sympathy

We are deeply saddened to hear of Gordon’s passing. Gordon was a devoted father and husband, and his life was a rich tapestry of hard work and deep connection to nature and those he loved.

His memory will live on in the lives he touched, and our thoughts are with the Chan family during this difficult time.

I stayed at my 4th Uncle Gordon's house whenever I came to Vancouver on a business trip. I enjoyed having dinner at his home and tasting his homemade wine. After dinner, 4th Uncle would lead me to watch his favorite Chinese opera videos on YouTube. I found them boring at first, but as he continuously explained and introduced each main performer, I began to develop an interest. From then on, we watched Chinese opera shows together every night during my stay. Every year when I visited, he would share his updated opera knowledge and introduce new performers to me. He made my time in Vancouver so memorable. I miss him.

Our most sincere condolences to all of Gordie's family and friends.  We enjoyed our short visit with Gordie when he was last in Edam. 

I so recall the sound of the door opening and closing as people entered and exited the Cafe; fond memories.  It was a blessing to Edam to have had such an honorable and fine family as part of our community.

May your fond memories bring you comfort in this difficult time, and may Gordie rest in peace.

My sincere condolences! I remember going to Suey’s as we called it when I was a child in Edam. Gordie was always so friendly and kind to us kids.

Would like to pass on my deepest condolences to the Chan family, Gordie always had a big smile when he was back visiting Edam.  We were very lucky to have had him in our community, and everyone enjoyed the visits when he came back.
