With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Gum Sing Yee. He passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, at the age of 93.
Born on November 27, 1931, he emigrated from a village in Zhongshan, China to Vancouver in 1952, where he built a life rooted in hard work, family, and community.
In 1961, Gum Sing married his beloved wife, Susie Sue King Yee, with whom he shared 43 wonderful years until her passing in 2004. Together, they raised three sons: Perry, Steve, and Doug, who were their pride and joy.
Gum Sing worked as an ironworker from 1954 until his retirement in 1993, proudly pointing out the many structures that he was involved in when out on drives around the city. His dedication and craftsmanship left a lasting legacy.
He is predeceased by his wife, Susie Sue King Yee, and survived by his sons Perry, Steve (Jane), and Doug (Mary); his cherished grandchildren Chris, Tessa, Elizabeth, Trevor, Jalen, Katelyn, and Jenelle; and many extended family members and friends who will remember him fondly.
Gum Sing will be remembered for his resilience, kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
