Harbans Kaur Johal

Harbans Kaur Johal (nee Sangha) known by her family as Bibi Ji, was born on November 18, 1921 in the Village of Kala Sangha in Punjab, India. She was the second of five children born to Chanan Singh and Maha Kaur Sangha.

She was married at a young age to Sardar (Giani) Jagir Singh Johal and had three children: Balbir, Devender and Rajvinder. In 1961 she moved with her family to Canada and set up her home in Vancouver where a few years later her fourth child Ravinder was born.

At the time of her death, Bibi Ji was just shy of her 95th birthday. She died peacefully at home while listening to her evening prayers, surrounded by family. She is survived by her daughters: Balbir, Rajvinder and Ravinder; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son Devender Singh Johal and her husband Sardar (Giani) Jagir Singh Johal.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday May 1, 2016 at Hamilton Harron Funeral Home located at 5390 Fraser Street, Vancouver and will be followed by a service and luncheon at Ross Street Gurdwara.

Bibi Ji will be forever remembered for the endless love she showed her family.
