He was born in the village of Thalla, District of Jalandar on February 9th, 1932, one of five children. After attending college, dad married our mother in 1955. Then dad was off to Vancouver, arriving in 1956, during the early days of rock n roll. A few favourites were Elvis, Nat King Cole, Fats Domino & many more. This really thrilled our dad as his dream was to be a professional singer. His dad didn't approve. This led to serenading family & guests with songs in English, Urdu & Hindi for years, into his 80's.
Dad's arrival in Vancouver followed his Grandfather Tara Singh's arrival in 1906. Our dad led a fulfilling life. He travelled extensively showing our mom the world. He worked for Ranier Forest Products for many years as a lumber grader, before creating an investment &
development business.
Dad was respected & loved by many. He is survived by his wife Amarjit, daughter Jubilee (Vili), son Manpreet (Jean) daughter-in-law Baljit and 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father Randhir Singh, mother Udam Kaur, older sister Mintho, older brother Gurdial & son Sukhdial. Our dad leaves a great VOID but everlasting memories.
