
She moved to Ottawa in 1973, where she worked for several government departments, primarily in management and leadership training.
Heather moved to Vancouver in 1996 to become the regional organizational development advisor at Revenue Canada in Vancouver.
Heather’s work in Ottawa involved travel throughout the world leaving her many fascinating stories of her time in the U.S.S.R. and East Germany during a historical period in these countries’ history. During her career Heather made friendships that she maintained throughout her life.
Heather retired after 30 years with the federal government in 2004. Since her retirement Heather volunteered at both the Vancouver Art Gallery and the Museum of Vancouver delivering school programs. Through volunteering at these institutions, she acquired a group of friends who charmed and entertained her in retirement.
Heather was known to be fiercely independent and a person of unwavering integrity. She lived by a strong set of personal values and had a persevering spirit. To know Heather was to engage in thoughtful conversations over good food and a glass of wine. True to her Maritime roots Heather possessed a warm and friendly demeanor that put people at ease and allowed conversation to flow.
