Helene Klaassen

KLAASSEN, Helene. Our dear sister and loving aunt passed away on May 28th 2015. Helene was born in Dnjepropetrovsk, Ukraine, on the 4th of October 1924. She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Maria Klaassen (nee Thiessen).

After World War II, Helene and her family immigrated to Paraguay, South America and then in 1955 immigrated to Canada, where they made Vancouver their home. Most of Helene’s working career was spent working in a sewing factory. She was also involved in a number of volunteer activities. Helene’s hobbies included reading, painting, sewing, cultivating violets and spending time in nature.

She leaves to mourn her sisters Agnes (Gerhard) and Olga (Jaap); her nephews Gerhard, Peter, Stuart and Steven; her nieces Linda, Annette, and Henrietta. Helene also had many great nephews and nieces who were dear to her.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 5, 2015 at Hamilton Harron Funeral Home, 5390 Fraser Street, Vancouver, BC.
