I am one of Ivan's many cycling acquaintances.   We met at  one of MEC's group rides a few years back now and shared a number of rides on the North Shore.   Since then,  we met out on the road quite frequently,  I was often crossing paths with his group le Peloton in the mountains or at Horseshoe Bay.  We were also connected on Strava where his records were legendary.  He was part of my cycling community as I returned to riding.   I was amazed by his dedication to the sport and continue to be inspired by his training ethic and positive attitude.  I wanted to express my gratitude for knowing him and let his family know he is still appreciated and remembered especially at this time of the year.  

My deepest condolences to you Sheri, Brendon, and dear Caitlin. How very, very sorry I am to hear the tragic news about your dad.  You are all in my thoughts during this difficult time. 

Dear Ivan, 
Although we worked with you on the other side of the country , from Montreal, your presence meant the world to us. You were amazing, your smile healing. Thank you for all the help support and simple memories you gave us. 

You leave us with a heavy heart. But even in the coldest of wind and snow storms, your smile and memories will always keep us warm.  Thank you for being there for us when we needed you the most. 

To Ivan's family, our condolences to you . May you know that he was too amazing to put into words and to his parents, your bought up a great son. Thank you for sharing him with us even if it was during a very short life.

Ivan, you have a rare gift of authenticity and genuineness. For my wife and I, we will never forget. 

Your warm smile and open personality shined through whenever we met in our visits to Vancouver.

Your mastery at the piano, excellence in bodybuilding with transformation and exploring the highest level you can reach in cycling, points to your dedication and discipline. Not for the attention of others, but for your own love of life and courage to live to its fullest. 

You are, however, best remembered by Ina and I for your kind heart. You are the one who came over to comfort us during our grandma's funeral. Because you knew we felt a similar loss.

We are going to miss the opportunities to share memorable stories of our grandparents together, among other things.  

Today, as you crossed the Jordan to beyond the veil, you are going to have more than a taste of excellence, you will meet perfection.

  Our family went to the Celebration of Ivan’s Life yesterday. There were about 200-300 people who attended it. How beloved Ivan was! There were lots of family members and friends who shared the story of Ivan. We’re going to miss everything about our great friend Ivan! During the snowfall over the past few days me and my daughter Frances (Caitlin’s friend) made this tribute for Ivan! 
  Ivan was a hero! He was a great father and a great friend to us all! We love you so much Ivan! Rest in peace! ❤️

My name is Victor Kan and I knew Ivan for about 6 years as my daughter Frances and Ivan's daughter Caitlin were really good friends.  Many people knew Ivan as an avid cyclist or a great co-worker;  we knew him simply as he was a great dad and uncle to Caitlin and Brandon's friends.  
Just to give everyone a small glimpse at what an all star dad Ivan was, during the summer of 2019, Caitlin and Frances would take a summer recreational course together at the Vancouver school board and Ivan offered to drop and pick them up from school every day for the summer.  He would also offer to take the girls to their family home where their family would prepare lunch dinner for them 
Ivan and Sheri would also take their kids friends, including Frances,  to their family cabin as well during the summer.  Ivan would also take their children's friends out to Cultus Lake, Playland and countless other summer recreational places when other parents like myself were too busy to.
Ivan was my friend, wonderful father and outstanding uncle to Frances.  Me, Wendy and Frances all miss you and think about you every day.

I had the pleasure of working with Ivan briefly on a project at the bank and will always remember his dedication, focus, and commitment to doing what's right. Ivan was a great leader and always had a positive attitude. He was an inspiration to work with.

I worked with Ivan in various departments at the bank, on and off for approximately 10 years.

These words are not solely to express my deepest sympathies for Ivan’s passing on Christmas Day of last year, but also to provide a small input in shining a light on his legacy.

You, [his immediate family and closest friends], would be correct in asserting that no amount of words, cards, tears or well-wishers could describe nor console the unimaginable pain in your hearts at this time. 

 Perhaps you, like me, keep waiting for someone to tell me it was all a bad dream, a cruel joke or a case of mistaken identity – that it wasn't him- because it couldn't be…

From the memories and testimonials left on his Memorial Page by some of the people who knew him, one can get a sense that Ivan was an inspiration to many, if not all, who knew him. 
Ivan not only inspired deliberately, but exuded it by his actions, his kindness, his humility, his strength, and unrelenting "laser focus", (to quote one of his favorite sayings). Ivan truly was one of the best human beings I have ever met, this I say with no hint of hyperbole.
Even though the ‘story of Ivan’ in the office is nothing short of an epic tale of success and accomplishments, I was happy he left to pursue his passions and be with those he loved. 
I sensed he had identified that he simply no-longer belonged in a repressive corporate environment, one ruled by ‘results’, greed, and the soul-crushing absurdity of the daily minutia of the 9-5 workplace. This makes the tragedy of his passing even more heartbreaking.

We never got a chance to say goodbye when he left the bank, however, I had plans to look him up, and as many of the things we leave for “later”, they too often become ‘never’ or too late...so in closing, I would like to quote Don Mclean and say: Ivan, truly, “...this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you”.

Ivan was a devoted and loving dad. My deepest sympathies to his family who will miss him keenly. 

Courteous, careful and confident are the best words to describe the feeling I had cycling with Ivan. While his abilities far exceeded any in our group, his joy came from the comradeship and coffee with others on Le Peleton rides. Ivan, your spirit will keep us going.

I had the privilege of working with Ivan on the Client Solutions project at CIBC, and Ivan's intelligence and kind and humble nature were a joy to be around. I could feel it beaming from Vancouver to Toronto and Montreal. My sincerest and deepest condolences to Ivan's family on this immeasurable tragic loss.

It's a shock to hear of Ivan's passing. I have many memories of your virtuoso piano performances in our Yeung family gatherings, and your passion for life and cycling. I had the pleasure of working with Ivan for many years. 
His leadership style had a major impact on my own personal growth and development.  Respect and loyalty are something earned and built upon, and under his guidance, I was motivated to work hard not just for my clients, but for my boss as well.

Many knew him in different circles, so there's something we can all learn from him; whether that's to be a positive force in the workplace, among friends and family, or a part of the community.

I worked with Ivan who was such a kind, supportive coach.  I will always remember his smile, positive attitude and generosity.  My condolences to his family and friends.  My heart aches knowing you have left too soon. RIP

Ivan worked with me at CIBC.  He was such a great manager, compassionate leader and was inspirational to many.  I was shocked to hear of this tragic accident and my thoughts go out to his family during this difficult period .

Ivan always had a smile on his face (especially on the bike).  My fondest memory of Ivan was when he rode along with David Tam and myself up Cypress multiple times on our pursuit of 'Everesting' for charity.  He provided words of encouragement and support throughout the day and was a true class act.  He will be greatly missed!  Ride on Ivan!  Looking forward to riding with you again buddy.
