It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our son, Jake Bordas. He was a kind and gentle soul. He touched the hearts of so many that he came in contact with. He had big dreams and so many plans for the future.
Jake loved the outdoors - working with his hands in the garden and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. He was proud of the seawall in downtown Vancouver. He played a major role in the maintenance of the gardens around there. He took his mom and me for a tour. I remember feeling so much pride when he was showing us around. My boy found his calling I thought. He really enjoyed his job and was good at it. He also was an accomplished musician. Piano, drums and guitar were his favorites. He also wrote a lot of his own music. He enjoyed skateboarding and snowboarding. He loved photography. His sense of humour left you laughing for hours, especially his one-liners. Jake always put 110% into everything he put his mind to. He never gave up until it was right.
During our last visit with him, he told us “he loved us to the moon and back”. He will be missed by countless family and friends that loved him, including his mother Geri and father Derrick, as well as his older brother Zakk. The crushing pain we feel is indescribable. He held a special place in our hearts that will continue. Now our hearts bleed; we are broken, but somehow we have to pick up the pieces and move on. The grieving process will be ongoing and we will never be the same, but we believe in the Bible’s hope of the resurrection found at John 5:28,29. Hope is a good thing. We hope to laugh with him again, shoot baskets with him, ski with him, go fishing with him and to just hug him again and say “We love you to the moon and back.” Until then, rest well my boy. You are in good hands. No more stress, no more pain, just peace. The pain is over.
Mental illness is becoming a worldwide epidemic and is very real. The crushing pain that it causes and the anguish is extremely difficult to diagnose, manage and treat. Should friends desire, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association at cmha.bc.ca. There is no memorial service planned at this time.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.GlenhavenMemorialChapel.com for the Bordas family.
