Dr. James Archibald McLennan was born on October 30, 1932 in Lebret, Saskatchewan and passed away on February 1, 2021 in New Westminster, British Columbia at the age of 88 years. Jim was the beloved husband of Rose Nahanee, a loving father to Jennifer McLennan, Jeffrey McLennan, Tracy Williams and Robert Williams; doting grandfather to Aidan Geboers (Jennifer’s son), and to Colten, Tiffany and Avery. He was the favourite uncle to many nieces and nephews across Canada. Family and friends could always count on a warm welcome and a place to stay with Jim when they came to Vancouver. Jim had a rare ability to connect with people of all backgrounds and ages and befriend them. This contributed to and enriched his long career as a respected family physician. He was a well read bon vivant who loved the company of his friends and family, jogging the Stanley Park sea wall, Hawaii, Europe, art, stamps and more. He shared and inspired others with his passions. He was an early and proud supporter of the Vancouver Golf Club, and a founding member of BC’s earliest autism society, to support autistic children in the 1970s. Jim always remembered his roots in the village of Lebret fondly, and regularly visited. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Angus and Agnes MacLennan, and brothers Gerald, Myles and Donald. He will be dearly missed by his family, relatives and friends. Due to the Covid restrictions, a private family visitation and service will be held. For those wishing to view the service on Wednesday, February 10, go to Funeraweb.com; by referencing Dr. James Archibald McLennan in the search box, his picture will appear, click on his photo and the service can be viewed; the webcast for the service will begin at 10:45 am.
