Janet Lillian Meares

We are saddened to announce the passing of JANET LILLIAN MEARES (Scott), age 77 of Vancouver, BC on Thurs. June 30th, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Janet passed away quickly but peacefully at Windermere Care Centre surrounded by her loving family.

Survived by Derek, her adoring husband of nearly 59 years; devoted Mother to Kathleen (Frank) Blackstock, and Jennifer (Andrew) Thornley; proud Grandma to Janine, Derek, Jackson and Carson; precious Great Grandma to Bryson and Sterling; Cherished sister to Beverley Turton. Janet will be missed dearly by many close relatives and friends.

Predeceased by her parents Ellice and Eliza “Lillian” Scott, and sister Carol Scott.

Janet was known for her absolute dedication to her family, her cooking and gift of entertaining, her exuberant story-telling and her faultless work ethic. She was a virtuous and classic lady whose beautiful smile could light up a room.

The family would like to thank the commendable staff at Windermere Care Centre for the attentive care Janet received over the past year.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Donations gratefully accepted in Janet’s honour to Alzheimer’s Society of BC or Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

Rest Peacefully and dance with the Angels, until we meet again.
