To Jimmy and Marlene, we are so very saddened to learn of your dear Dads passing, he was a very special man! We lost our beloved Dad/husband almost 7 years ago, just shy of his 88th birthday - not a day goes by that we don't think of him and miss him terribly so we certainly feel for your loss. Hugs to you both.

Mr. Quon's celebration of life.

Remembering Duk Wah (Joe) Quon goes back 50 years.
#JoeQuon was always Mr. Quon to me. The father of my friend and Maid of Honour- Marlene Quon.
Through Mr. Quon and his family I was introduced at an early age (10 years old) to fabulous food. Not only was it delicious but beautiful to look at. His skill & passion for fine food was passed on to his 7 children and to lucky friends like me. 

Mr. Quon was my first celebrity. Back in the 60's/70's  #theGallopingGourmet Graham Kerr was a very big deal.  Graham Kerr publicly recognized Mr. Quon's greatness as a Chef.

I have early memories of when Marlene took me to see the #ThreeGreenHornsRestaurant at Comox and Denman. Fancy restaurants were not something my working class family could afford.  It made quite the impression on me that Mr. Quon was the head chef of such a fine establishment.

Thanks to Mr. Quon the food industry was in the Quon family DNA and I had the privilege in a small way to be included. Like when Jack and Marlene worked at the Wharf Restaurant under the Burrard St. Bridge. My favourite place to go with family and friends. I miss that place.

I remember, when we were young, Mr. Quon worked long hours.

Mr. Quon whether he knew it or not, sometimes provided $ for fries/gravy. A special lunch treat at the local hole in the wall restaurant no longer there on the west side of Main street near 57th Ave. when in elementary school. Good memories. Thank you Mr. Quon.

So many other memories.

Gone but not forgotten. I feel privileged to have known Duk Wah (Joe) Quon.

Joe made us feel welcome from the first time we met him, and made us feel part of the family ever since. His smile lit up any room he was in. Celebrate his life and take strength from those around you. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

You all were so lucky to have Joe! Keep him close to your hearts, eat the food, drink the wine out of your mugs and speak of him often. We will garden today and think of him.

My condolences go out to all of you.  Joe was a wonderful person and I will always remember his kindness and friendliness.  RIP Joe. Metro Vancouver was a better place with him here.  Peace and love to all.
