Deeply saddened to hear of this. Kirstie is an absolute legend.  

I was very saddened to learn of Kirstie's passing. I was a student in several of her philosophy classes at Capilano University from 2017 right up until the fall of 2019, when she had to take a leave of absence to look after her health.

In my experience, Kirstie loved her role as an educator. She was enthusiastic and patient, with a way of drawing out even the quietest of students into a discussion. Some of our classes could become a bit noisy, but I never observed Kirstie to lose her composure; she remained affable.

Outside of the classroom, Kirstie supported me in my efforts to become a medical doctor, by writing me a reference letter and being a source of encouragement in the several emails we exchanged since she stopped working. In one of these messages, we expressed that we might meet for a glass of wine one day, with both of us having beaten the odds we were each up against. I am sad that we won't have that opportunity.

To Kirstie's family and friends, I offer my sincere condolences. Kirstie opened my mind to philosophy and I am grateful to have had her as my teacher.
