It is with immense sadness that we advise of the passing of a beautiful spirit, Kollette Julianna Irene Douglas. Kollette was born at Vancouver General Hospital to her father Darryl Lawrence Douglas & Late Mother Theresa Kelly Ann Gus. She grew up mainly on Seymour, Capilano and Mission Reserves, she was a Condo Kid, she also lived in Brackendale, Sechelt, Tsleil-Waututh communities, and Texas. She had so many friends and in her younger years she hung out with the ‘Corner Crew,’ and those close friendships have lasted a lifetime.
Kollette attended Queen Mary Elementary, Lynnmour Elementary, Howe Sound, Carson Graham Secondary, and graduated in 2005 from Windsor Secondary School. She proudly graduated with a Certificate of Cosmetic & Retailing from Blanche McDonald Modelling School in 2010. Kollette had a passion for make-up and modelling, and she wanted to get into the TV & Movie industry. She also completed a Career Development Practitioner Advisor Graduate Certificate from Douglas College
Kollette loved to experience so many different things, she worked all types of jobs; Nando’s, Starbucks, Genesis Fitness, McDonald’s, Extra Foods, Point to Point Nails, Hostess at Brewhall Restaurant, Mythos Taverna and Destination. She also loved to help people, she worked at Access at the Vancouver Friendship Centre, Volunteered with UNYA, she worked as an Admin Support for the Squamish Nation Lands department, and Project administrator for the Reclaiming Education with the Squamish Nation Education Department.
She was such a social butterfly, she would attend conferences and loved going to the movies. Her ultimate Love was attending and volunteering for Festivals, Raves and EDC events, Borgeous was someone who inspired her and became her special friend for many years, she would travel to many places just to watch him perform, she also volunteered for the JUNO Awards and FVDED in the park events.
Travelling was high on her list of favourites, she travelled to Seattle, California, Paris, Rome, Ireland, Italy, and her favourite place Las Vegas.
Kollette was very passionate about her sobriety and helped so many people along that road, she was so uplifting and inspiring. She was running an AA Group at the Shaker Church, and she started the group ‘Under the Bridge’ which ran out of the compound. She had a knack for bringing people together, from family, friends and even strangers. She attended various AA meetings all over the lower mainland and Big Book Club Meetings.
She loved her dogs, they were all her favourites, Midnight, Marilyn, Tootsie, Jack, Little Tootsie, Bruce, Missy and Ducky.
