

Kon Hon was born on October 22, 1934 in Guangdong, China. Kon Hon was the youngest out of 5 children born to Shi Qian Mah and Mei Fong Cheung.
At the age of 21, Kon Hon immigrated to Canada in 1955 where he worked at a restaurant for his uncle. In 1961, Kon Hon married Lee Nee in Cranbrook, BC and in 1970, they opened a restaurant together called the New Canton Cafe.
In 1996, Kon Hon sold the restaurant and moved to Vancouver in 1998. In his spare time, Kon Hon enjoyed eating dim sum, playing basketball, harmonica and piano, ballroom dancing, singing songs, and attending meetings and events for the Mah Benevolent Society.
Kon Hon was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lee Nee; his 2 children: Gordon (Janet) and Susan (Edward) and his 5 grandchildren: Troy, Keanna, Marissa, Alicia and Christina.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 11, 2020 at 12:30pm at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 1835 E Hastings St, Vancouver. Burial will be held on January 11, 2020 at 2:30pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby.
