It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Marco Fabrizio Damiani on September 14, 2022 at the age of 41. Marco was predeceased by his beloved father, Fulvio in 2016 and all his grandparents. He is survived by his grieving and heart broken mother, Sandra. Mourning his loss are his aunts Veralda, Gabriela, Roberta, Ida, Maria and his uncle, Maurizio (Brenda). Grieving his loss him will be all his cousins from Vancouver, Victoria, Merritt , Winnipeg, Sarnia, Toronto and Italy.
His special friends Graham, Angelo and Aytan will greatly lament his playfulness, big smiles, sunny disposition, caring sensitivity, deep loyalty, willingness to listen to others, love of all types of music and above all, his wry sense of humour. He could make anyone laugh.
Marco was born on August 23, 1981 in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he completed his High School and moved to Vancouver, British Columbia in 2001. He worked as a sales associate at various companies such as BOSE where he helped open their flagship store in downtown, Vancouver, Visions Electronics, whom he claimed trained him to be excellent at sales and EQ3 the furniture store. He loved to quote the sales techniques taught him by Visions to his mother during trade shows.
He completed his post-secondary education at the University of British Columbia 2012 earning his BA in Political Science. At Langara College, British Columbia in 2009, he was awarded an Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, and at MIB School of Management (Trieste, Italy) in 2006 he earned a Diploma in Entrepreneurship and International Business. He particularly loved the MIB program as it was in Italy that he was exposed to great food during plant tours and be became appreciative of excellent products to make that great food. A foody in the making.
He settled in Burnaby, BC where he founded with his father, Damiani Fine Foods in 2013. He grew the business with his father and mother from a small operation to the success it is today. Marco was proud of his business achievements and was a confident CEO and sales representative. Marco loved travel and was afforded opportunities to go on buying trips to Italy and the States for the company where he met vendors like Ilyse, Ron and Nicolo. Those vendors developed into life long friends.
Being a life learner and like his father, Marco enjoyed philosophy. He had favorite quotes which he posted on his fridge where ever he lived and tried to let them be the guiding light in his decision making. They are still there today. His favorite by Marcus Aurelius” Do every act of your life as if it were your last”. By Voltaire “ Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her: but once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game.” And lastly by Hannibal “We will find a way, or make one” a moto owned by Damiani Fine Foods . No matter what, Marco always found a way and did play the cards that life handed him.
Marco was a beloved son, committed to family, dedicated businessman, health enthusiast, loyal friend, and avid traveller. His wicked sense of humor will be never be forgotten. His passing will leave a hole in our hearts and will be greatly missed and mourned by all those he touched in life.
Most especially he will always be remembered and forever mourned by his mother. He left us too soon and did not get a chance to fulfill his life’s dreams. May God and your father receive you in their arms, Marco. We love you.
