Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Born in 1924 in Rycroft, Alberta, Peggy passed away quietly in her sleep at the Royal Columbian Hospital on July 5, 2013, at the age of 89.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Gordon in 2003, her parents James and Janie Leslie and her brother Robert.
Left with wonderful memories are her son Les (Lynda) Renney, her daughter Cathie (Ken) Kabool, her beloved grandchildren Todd, Julie (Mark), Lisa, Adrianna and Linda (Merv), and her six great-grandchildren Alex, Emma, Carter, Kemsley, Kurtis and Justin, all of whom she adored. Peggy is also survived by her older brother James of New Westminster. She will also be missed by her dear friends Eveline Dyck and Alma Rusko.
Peggy and Gordon married in 1946 and lived in a small house in Port Coquitlam where they started their family. They moved to New Westminster in 1952 into the home which would remain the family home for 61 years.
Peggy was an accomplished seamstress and an avid reader. She was also a lifetime member of the Royal Columbian Hospital Auxiliary where she and Gordon spent countless hours volunteering their time in support of the hospital. Together they produced over 10,000 heart pillows for the Cardiac Care Program, as well as working on the lottery booth and at the hospital thrift store. Peggy loved camping in their trailer at the Vedder River Campground and travelling with her husband but above all she loved her family, all of whom will miss her dearly.
There will be no service at Peggy’s request but the family will be holding a Celebration of Life tea at Peggy’s home on Sunday, July 14 at 2:00pm. Please join us in honouring the life of our wonderful Mom.
