A Life of Grace and Devotion
Margaret W.K. Chow, a woman defined by her unwavering kindness and dedication to her family, passed away on April 28, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born in Shanghai in 1938, Margaret moved to Hong Kong as a child following the conclusion of World War II. Her early years were shaped by the hardships of the war and its aftermath, yet she chose to transform those experiences into a life centered on care, humility, and generosity. Guided by her deep Christian faith, she lived without resentment, believing firmly in the power of giving to others.
Entrepreneurship and Family
Margaret’s professional journey began within her family’s business, Zeepha Couture, and included time at notable Hong Kong institutions like Lane Crawford. It was during her time with the family business that she met her husband, Peter Y.C. Chow, who was then an apprentice for her father.
In 1967, Margaret and Peter made the pivotal decision to move to Canada. Drawing on the successes and skills they learned at Zeepha Couture in Hong Kong, they established their first business, Peter Couture. While building a new life in a new country was difficult, their commitment to one another and their shared love allowed them to establish solid roots in Canada.
Margaret later successfully owned and operated Gala Drycleaning. Despite the demands of being an entrepreneur, her true passion remained her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She balanced her professional responsibilities with a tireless devotion to her home, ensuring her family always felt her presence and love.
Family Legacy
Margaret is survived by her devoted husband, Peter Y.C. Chow. Her legacy continues through her family:
• Sons: David, Jon, and Daniel Chow.
• Daughters-in-law: Kathy Chow, Yuko Kodama, and Yi Yuan Zhang.
• Grandchildren: Hugh, Leanna, Aiden, and Emily Chow.
• Sisters: Joyce, Phylis, Linda, Valentina, Georgina, and Simone Cheung.
