“Love You Forever and Ever”
Marie passed away peacefully at home with her devoted husband, Bert, at her side. Marie and Bert were together for over 64 years. They met in Kelowna, British Columbia at a barn dance in 1951; Marie was sitting under an apple tree in springtime, and they danced together ever since. They always sang to each other, in beautiful harmony. They were the “King and Queen of Hearts”, a very romantic couple as many can attest. Their love and devotion to each other will survive an eternity.
Marie was a kind and loving soul who cherished her family. She was a devoted wife and loving mother to Anna-Marie, Rusty, Lynn, Connie, Lee, and Marie. Bert said that Marie was happiest, especially in the early years, while surrounded by and raising her six children. She adored all of her 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, and she was overjoyed to hear of their 15th great-grandchild due in the spring.
Marie always expressed her love to her family, closing conversations with, “Love You Forever”. Over the years if her children told her of their concerns, she responded with loving affirmation, “Holy Doodle”.
She was the most forgiving and generous soul. Kind and witty, ever jubilant with family and her many friends. She loved her extended family, and many nieces and nephews too. Marie was fun-loving and enjoyed family conversations and celebrations at the kitchen table with the radio always playing in the background. As a family we joined together in dance and song always. We will remember her laughter, Marie was a great humourist who shared her jokes with all to lift our spirits.
She had nicknames for everyone: Daddy, Marushka, Rusty Dusty, Oakie, Peanut (or Coggie Woggie Doodle all the Day), Pee Wee, Baby, Bubbykins, Snookums, Rocky, My Girl, or My Boy, What’s Up Doc, and her beloved Mother, “Mac”, to name a few.
Marie was strikingly beautiful, creative and passionate, and studied song and dance throughout her life. She was a hairdresser, having graduated with highest marks from the renowned Molar School of Hairdressing in Vancouver. She was a cosmetologist too, and had a flair for fashion unsurpassed.
Marie was baptized as a Christian who held Jesus close to her heart. Heaven now has their Angel back. The family takes comfort in knowing that she is together with her loving family members, her mother Anna, her siblings, and her beautiful daughter Connie.
She will be greatly missed and our memories of her warmth, her strength, her fierce devotion to family, and her beautiful voice singing to everyone, will be deeply cherished. We will love and hold precious memories of Marie in our hearts forever.
Marie, Mom, your sparkling image and deep love for all will burn bright within us Forever and Ever.
“Love You Forever” to our special, beautiful Lady, Wife and Mother,
Your loving husband Bert, Children, and Family
