

On Tuesday, August 20, 2019, Lin passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Vancouver General Hospital.
Born in Edmonton on October 5, 1938 to Homer and Madelene Ramage, Lin married Ross Hay-Roe in 1957. They moved to Toronto in 1962 where they welcomed their children Jane in 1962 and Jeffrey in 1965. In 1977 Lin moved with her children to Vancouver to be closer to her parents who had retired to White Rock.
Lin had a successful career as a paralegal, and loved attending jazz festivals, concerts and plays, and dancing at The Hot Jazz Club. Those who knew Lin loved her for her sense of humour, warm smile, generous heart and sincerity. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, walking on the Seawall and in Stanley Park, Martini Nights at The Sylvia Hotel, Yoga and Zumba at the West End Community Centre. Lin was an active member of her community, volunteering with the West End Seniors’ Network as well as the Stanley Park Lawn Bowling Club where she enjoyed bowling with the Shady Ladies and was a champion Euchre player.
Lin was predeceased by her partner of 25 years, Herb Fears.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jane, son, Jeffrey (Jacqueline), grandchildren, Virginia (John) te Bokkel, Mary-Lin (Darrell) Hoekstra, Flannery (Sam) Hudson, Kaelam Nawata, Dorothea Hay-Roe, Eilie Hay-Roe, Elise Hay-Roe, Jade Nawata, Jonathan Hay-Roe, Olivia Hay-Roe, Timothy Hay-Roe, great grandchildren Ada, Madeline and Roland Hudson; her niece Michele (John) Fryer; Herb’s son Linc (Ruth) Cordell; Ross and Lee Hay-Roe, and many other friends and family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lin’s honour to the charity of your choosing.
A celebration of Lin’s life will be held at the Sylvia Hotel on Saturday, September 28 at 1:30 PM. For catering purposes, an RSVP to [email protected] would be appreciated.
