We are sad to announce Naomi Hanson’s passing in hospital May 15, 2025. She is survived by her family, Lori, Todd and Christine Hanson, Pietro, Luca, Giorgia and Gemma d’Arcano, and by many dear friends.
Naomi was a BC girl, born on April 1942 in Youbou, on Lake Cowichan. She held her Masters from UBC and became a teacher and school counsellor, working for the Surrey School board for over 40 years. Her wisdom and kindness are long remembered by colleagues and students.
Possessing a fine soprano voice she loved to sing at home alone, or with friends and in community with others. She was a member of three choirs at the time of her death. The Vancouver City Singers being her particular passion.
Naomi possessed joy for life and was a truly lovely person.
There will be a celebration of life a the UBC Golf Club September 24, 2-5. The celebration will be held in the Westpoint Room at University Golf Club. Memorial donations to the BC Choral Federation.
