Nick was born in Erie, Pennsylvania to Lena (Holubetz) & Michael Kinar on May 23, 1930. He moved to Saskatoon when he was 3 months old and then to Vancouver 13 years later. Nick had numerous jobs when he entered the workforce - Unemployment Insurance Commission, Shipyards, and he dabbled in construction. After realizing that none of these potential careers were his calling, Nick went on to work at Canada Safeway for 33 years (in the Warehouse Division), retiring in 1988 at the ripe young age of 58. After retirement, he enjoyed many years of chasing the sun in California, Mexico, Europe, and from the deck of countless cruise ships. His love of Cabo San Lucas started in 1987 with his final trip to bronze under the Baja sun 31 years later in October 2018. Nick had a zest for life, and everyone who was lucky enough to cross his path was attracted to his infectious personality. In addition to his family and travelling, he had a deep love for wine, champagne, Drambuie & Courvoisier, and always made sure your glass was filled to the brim (and his too!).
Nick was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings (William, Mary, Janice, John, & Peter) and his beloved partner (Patricia Graham).
Nick is survived by his son Richard (Diane), daughters Char (Reg), Denelle (Steve) and stepdaughter Trish (Kyle), his sister (Josie), his grandchildren Tennille (Michael), Keegan (Rachel), Riley (Erin), Connor, Mallory, Sydney & Alivia, his great-grandchildren Sawyer & Sienna, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The memory of Nick will live in our hearts forever, separation from this amazing man is strictly temporary and not forever…we will be together again.
“The Man” “The Myth” and “The Legend” will live on forever!
