June 21, 1956 - May 30, 2022
It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of our “Paulette”. Pauline passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 30, 2022. Pauline is predeceased by the love of her life, her Un, Ron. She was also predeceased by her dear parents Eugene and Johanna and brothers, Owenie and Patrick. Pauline was an incredible Mama and Nana. She will forever be treasured by her daughter Janna, son-in-law Eric and her cherished grandchildren, Veronica and Adam. She will be especially missed by her beloved sister and best friend, Jacqueline.
She will also be greatly missed by the rest of her siblings - Teresa (Ray), Maurice (Beth), Annette (Hervé), Josephine (Larry), Eamon (Juliana), her sisters-in-law Kathie and Carol, her aunts, uncle, dear friend Ivan, along with her countless cousins, nieces, nephews and her darling cousin Eileen.
Pauline emigrated from Ireland in 1957 as a baby and grew up with an unmatched pride of her Irish and Canadian Heritage. She will forever be remembered as a familiar and friendly face on Main Street. Pauline had such love for her community and those who crossed her path. She got great joy from her work at the Vancouver Parks Board, Mount Pleasant, Riley Park and Hillcrest Community Centres. The friendships she developed from her work there and from St. Patricks, Seaboard, Penny Lane, Chaise and Quebec Street were so important to her. Those lasting friendships are helping her family through this difficult time.
Special thanks to Jackie, Annette, Jo, Maurice and Eileen for their love and care in these recent years as well as her nieces Cindy and Sarah for their guidance and love through her health journey. Additional thanks to those who assisted in Pauline’s care in recent years, especially to Colleen Riley, NP for her friendship and guidance that gave us more time with our sweet Paulette. Thanks as well to the teams at VGH, BC Cancer Agency and St. John’s Hospice for their support in recent months.
Pauline lived her life with the true spirit of friendship, love and loyalty. She will forever be remembered for her open heart, open arms, dance moves and her incredible sense of humour.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honour her memory.
To the one with the twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes, we miss you so.
Rest easy, our brave and strong girl, we knew we had to let you go.
You may dance and sing now to your heart’s content.
While we had you too short a while, you were truly heaven sent.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
