Pearlie Wai Ping Szeto

Pearlie Szeto was born on February 14, 1946 in Hong Kong and moved to Canada in 1988 with her husband and daughter.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years Ho Yin Szeto, daughter Gloria Maeda (husband: Taigi) and her siblings Eric Chan (wife: Florence), Angelina Wong (husband: Kwok Charm) and their families.

She was pre-deceased by parents Siu Lun Chan (father) and Sei Lui Lau (mother) and sister Wai Ching Chan (husband: Kai Leung Chiu)

She had the love for learning from a young age, even putting herself through school. She would take classes to learn how to make dim sum dishes for her husband, and knitting and sewing to make sweaters and clothing for the family. Flower arranging was another class she took so she could brighten up the house and make it into a home that the whole family could enjoy. One of her daughters’ favourite memory would be of her in the kitchen creating new dishes for both her family and friends.

Pearlie also had to live with Alzheimer’s over the last number of years, and with the help of her loving husband and daughter they did their best to allow her to enjoy as much life as she could, especially her love of food.

Pearlie was the type of person who was kind and open to everyone around her and will be missed by all those who knew her, but especially by her family and friends.
