Sadly, Richard passed away on December 3rd at the age of 78 after a lengthy illness.
Richard was born in Victoria on July 27, 1943, the only child of Harry and Ellen (Morabito) Kerr. He is survived by his beloved Aunt Rose, as well as several cousins.
Early in his career Richard was employed as a sales supervisor locally at Andres Wines. He later moved to Australia, where he worked for two years in Melbourne for a large advertising company. Upon his return to Vancouver he began his final career in Sales and Marketing, first with B.C. Tel, then TELUS, retiring in 2001.
Richard loved Kitsilano, especially the beach in summer. He relished travel, and this led him to Japan, western Europe, Australia and the southern U.S.A. for both the beaches and the skiing.
Richard met many new life-long friends when travelling, resulting him being known by a variety of terms of endearment, including Rich, Richie, Rick, Ricardo, Bucky and Crunch. He was a friend to all who knew him, whether at home or abroad.
His favorite leisurely pastimes were skiing and golf. He served as a ski instructor for twenty years at Whistler/Blackcomb as a member of the Canadian Ski Instructor’s Alliance (CSIA), as well as a seasonal Player’s Assistant at the University Golf Club in Vancouver.
Per Richard’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
Anyone wishing to make a donation in his memory may consider the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
