GRAHAM, Rita A. Rita Alice Graham (nee George), passed peacefully at Courtyard Gardens in Richmond, British Columbia, on March 3, 2015, at the age of 97. Predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Bob Graham. Loving mother of son Bruce Graham (Linda) of Harbert, Michigan, and daughter Doris Bruce (Ted) of Richmond, British Columbia. Cherished Nana of Todd Graham (Piper) of San Francisco, California, Beth Graham of Waterford, Michigan, Alison Burton of Cranbrook, B.C. and Robin and Eric Bruce of Richmond, B.C. Proud Great Nana of Ellen and Nora Graham of San Francisco. Rita was born in Liverpool, England, immigrated to Windsor, Ontario at the age of 10, and settled with her family in the Walkerville area of the city. She was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church choir and attended Walkerville Collegiate. Rita was introduced to her future husband, Bob, by his sister-in-law, Bertha, and they were married in 1944. They lived all of the years of their marriage in Windsor, where they were active members of St Mary’s Anglican Church. Rita was a founding member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church Women B Branch, and served as a dedicated member of the group and the church’s Chancel Guild for forty years. Rita and Bob were instrumental in establishing the St Mary’s Family Learning Centre on Giles Blvd (now Connections Early Years Family Centre). In 2007, Rita moved to B.C. to be closer to her daughter, Doris and family. Rita always thought of others before herself, and was known for her unfailingly positive attitude toward life. Rita loved to bake, especially her delicious butter tarts and cookies. Always eager for a new challenge, she learned to play the chimes at the age of 95. Memorial service and burial of ashes at St. Mary’s Cemetery will take place at a later date. The family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Courtyard Gardens for their devoted and loving care of Rita.
