It is with great sadness that the Mah family announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sau Guen Mah (Louise), of Vancouver, BC. She was born on August 16, 1937, in Shalang Village, Kaiping, Guangdong, China, and passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on February 23, 2026, at the age of 88.
In 1955, she arrived in Canada, where she met and married her loving husband, Tung On Mah, and together they built a life and raised a family. She was immensely proud of their five children: Edward (Penny), Vivian, Veda (Larry), Linda (Roy), and Sonny (Julia). She cherished her 11 grandchildren: Stacy, Nicole, Michelle, Michael (Colleen), Kevin, Kimberly (Tyler), Mitchell (Aleesha), Sara, Faith, Amber, and Ashley, and twin great-granddaughters, Josie and Elsie.
Sau Guen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Tung On (October 13, 2022); by her parents, Chow Tak Fung and Wong Ngan Fung; her brother, George Kin Ping Chow; daughter-in-law, Penny Mah; and son-in-law, Roy Blokhuizen.
Sau Guen and Tung On ventured into business together in Lake Cowichan, where they established Mah On Grocery & Chinese Food Take Out. The family business operated from 1968-1987, after which they moved to Vancouver to enjoy their well-deserved retirement.
Sau Guen was known for her kindness and caring nature. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, crocheting, gardening, and travelling. She was also a member of the Mah Society of Vancouver.
Sau Guen will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
