It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Papa, and devoted husband, Scot Simmons of North Vancouver, on April 19, 2026, at the age of 87. Scot passed peacefully after a lengthy illness. He loved his family more than anything and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Scot is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary-Anne Simmons; daughters Julie Fitzgerald (Marty) and Jan Simmons; son Paul Simmons (Wanda), grandchildren Patrick Fitzgerald (Erin), Brian Fitzgerald, Sean Fitzgerald (Elaina), Adam Walter (Allison), and Penny Manley (James); and great-grandchildren Izzy and Ivy Fitzgerald (their Mom, Kim Lamond), Olivia Fitzgerald, and Eli Walter, along with sisters-in-law Judy Ellis, Janice Simmons and Carol Bird.
Scot’s lifelong career was in the insurance industry, where he built a successful business and earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike over many years. He was also an accomplished piano player and had a passion for remodelling homes. In his younger years, he especially enjoyed vacationing with Mary-Anne in Maui.
Scot was predeceased by his parents, Dory Curtis and Ray Simmons; his son, Colin Simmons; and his brothers, Marke Simmons and Martin Simmons.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cardinal Hall, 3590 Mountain Highway, North Vancouver BC on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
Dad had a special love for Maui and the Hawaiian spirit, so we invite you to celebrate his life in a relaxed island style. Feel free to dust off your aloha shirts, tropical prints, shorts, sandals, and flip-flops as we honour him in a Hawaiian way that he would have loved.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.
