Our hearts are broken as we mourn the sudden loss of our much-loved son, brother, father, uncle and friend, Sean, who left this world on June 16, 2023.
In his passing, we know that Sean will reunite with his son Malachy, who he loved with all of his being.
Sean leaves behind his beautiful son Micah; and is mourned and remembered by his parents David Dunn and Mary Carroll; his siblings Coleen Dunn (Greg) and Pat Dunn (Charlene); his nieces and nephews: Kyle (Dunn), Sophie-Rose and Madeline Pickard, and Oscar and Wyatt Dunn; by an abundance of aunts, uncles and cousins on both the Dunn and Carroll sides; in-laws and a vast number of friends in Newfoundland & Labrador, British Columbia and across the country.
Sean was born on April 21, 1968 in St. John’s, but stomped the grounds in Makinsons before heading west to Vancouver. His heart loved Newfoundland, and he always seemed most at home and at one amidst the trees and trails here and in the forests of BC.
Sean had a kind and passionate heart, a humanistic conviction to social justice, a spirited love of the earth, a childlike excitement for many things, and an infectious laugh that always made so many of us want to be in his company. We will remember and cherish all of those best bits that were really the essence of Sean – and will always be part of us.
Sean held fast in many a kitchen debate, and openly and privately sparred with his demons. We can see him now – free, spirited and holding court rousting and rallying in his afterlife.
Sean will be waking at Caul’s Funeral Home in St. John’s NL on Sunday, July 23, 2023 and a funeral service at All Hallows Parish in North River, NL on Tuesday, July 25 at 11:00am.
In Sean’s memory, please make a special effort to reach out to your children, parents, siblings and friends and remind them how much you love them.
Into the wood to nature’s shade
Where sorrow’s silent whispers fade
And carry you home to this land
Your spirit with us hand-in-hand
