Predeceased by her father Harry, mother Margaret, and brother Don. Sheila is survived by her loving husband Myron, son Keith (Helen), daughter Tanya, sister Mary (John), nieces Alexandra and Breanna, and nephew Adam.
Sheila’s early years were spent in Haileybury and Lake Temagami Ontario, where she was introduced to canoeing, camping, and cottage life by her extended family. A child of the war years, she remembered meeting her father when he returned from active service at war’s end. Reunited, her family returned to Vancouver. During her youth, Sheila developed an interest in roller skating and jazz music.
After high school, Sheila moved to Manitoba. She soon joined the Winnipeg Canoe Club where she met Myron, the love of her life. They went on to share 60 years of marriage. Their domestic life with two children was centered in Winnipeg and the family cottage at Victoria Beach. As the children grew older, Sheila graduated from Red River College and pursued a career in the food and hospitality business. Sheila enjoyed the people she met and the friendships she developed along the way.
Upon retirement, Sheila and Myron relocated close to her family in Vancouver. During the summer months, they would return to the cottage in Manitoba where they could be with family and friends again. They continued to roller skate, and take canoe and camping trips in Manitoba, Ontario and the US. Sheila remained current with jazz music and attended jazz festivals whenever she could.
Sheila journeyed through life with a free and lighthearted spirit and open personality. She held a quiet confidence in herself and in those she loved. We were blessed to have her as our wife and mother.
Memorial service will be held at Pacific Spirit United Church, 2195 West 45th Avenue
Vancouver, on Thursday December 29th at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Sheila’s memory to the Honour House Society (509 St. George St., New Westminster BC, V3L 1L1).
