With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and
grandmother, Stamoula Papageorgiou, who passed away peacefully on February 8,
2026, at the age of 68, surrounded by her family.
Stamoula was born in Vraila, Greece, on October 2, 1957. She was the eldest of
four daughters and shared a special bond with her sisters, Voula, Katerina, and
Yianna. In her early years, she left her village to go to Athens, embracing new
opportunities and experiences that would shape her path forward. After a short
courtship, she married her husband Xenophon on April 14, 1977. Shortly after,
Stamoula moved to Vancouver and began building the life and family she
cherished so deeply.
She was a woman of unwavering resilience and philótimo, bringing compassion
and kindness to everyone she encountered. She worked alongside her husband in
the family business, dedicated her time to volunteering and worked for many years
as a supervision aide before choosing to step away to help care for her
grandchildren, a role she embraced with deep love and devotion. She adored her
grandchildren and found her greatest joy in their laughter, milestones, and the time
spent together. Her home was a place of love, comfort, and laughter, where
everyone felt welcome. Her wisdom and guidance extended far beyond her
immediate family, leaving a lasting imprint on friends, her community, and all who
were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Xenophon; her beloved
children, Konstantine (Mary), Athanasia (Karlo), Efthimios (Renata), George
(Vicky), and her eight cherished grandchildren, Xenia, Ana, Leo, Katerina, Luka,
Elias, Niko, and Theo.
Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the time we shared and
the beautiful memories that will live with us always. She carried herself with
dignity, always remaining strong and courageous, right to the very end. Her love
and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vancouver Hospice Society in
memory of our beloved Stamoula.
