It is a beautiful day in Vancouver! The air is mild and fresh.  I can't believe it has been 7 years since we all celebrated your big 4-0 together in Las Vegas, then drove to San Diego and back. That was an amazing trip.
I miss our amazing trips that we shared. I remember planning a vacation somewhere and feeling thrilled when you'd catch wind of the plans and decide to join in on the fun.  
It may have been over 2 years since you moved on without us, but not a day goes by that I don't think about you and miss you.  
For awhile I thought I couldn't say Happy Birthday to someone who has passed on but, I realize, I am happy that you were born, I am happy that I've spent time with your parents, its no wonder how it seems you were the model of human decency. In may ways, I strive to do things like I think you might have because I figured that is the right way to do it. That being said, Happy Birthday Tod! Your spirit lives on in my heart.

I miss you very much Tod. Still hard to think you are not here anymore.

It has been a year since Tod went away and we so miss him. I came across this poem called "A Letter From Heaven", and as I read it I felt it would be something that Tod would say to his family and friends.

It's taken me a year to be able to write anything. I met Tod thru Jeanette, Wayne & Heather. I can't remember how many years it's been. It's been a year today since Heather made the fateful call telling me that something bad happened, my heart stopped when she told me that you were gone. It's nothing that I ever thought I'd hear. I loved the way you always made time to come for dinner with us whenever you heard we were in Vancouver. I loved going to all the different restaurants you'd pick out. I loved the way you'd smile whenever I asked if you had time for a toni. I always laughed more then anyone thinking it was funny. I've been to Vancouver several times since your passing, it seems so empty without your presence. My thoughts have been with your parents Tom & Lenore, Andrew, and all your friends & family. Tod, you will forever be in my heart, I am honored to have met you & spend time with you.

Hi Tod,

It's taken me a few months to write you a little note. I wish I knew how to express the depth of loss and sadness I feel everyday without you. My heart is broken. I want you to know that our 9 years together were by far the best years of my life - a testament to what a rare and wonderful person you were. You will forever be in my thoughts. I know in my heart that my soul will someday meet you again. Love, Andrew.

This Christmas Lenore and I are having to spend it without Tod and it is very difficult. It is still extremely hard to accept his passing as he was always so full of life with so many things happening in his life.
 We have been fortunate to meet so many of his great friends and get to know them a bit better, it has been easy to see why you all were his friends. It is heartwarming to see posts on this page as time passes as we know we are not alone in our grief because others cared for him too.
 Everyone keeps thanking us for bringing Tod into this world but we in fact were the fortunate ones and cherish the 44+ years we had with him.
 We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and leave you with something Tod would have said, "cheers".

Tod it has taken all these months to finally accept that you are not here with us. You were a loving friend and I miss you dearly. You and I had many adventures together my friend and whenever I think of them it brings many smiles and laughs into my memories of you. You were my date on many occasions and I could see the envy in people around me  that I was with such a beautifull man. I would think how lucky am I to have such a great friend! You gave me Annick and Linda which I will be forever gratefull for. And Andrew... without you I would never have met them and they are amazing and kind so I thank you for that. Tom amd Lenore thank you for bringing such an amazing person into this world and for that my life and many others were and still are enriched by your wonderfull son. I was having dinner the other night and I thought of Tod. I could almost see him sitting across from me raising a glass of wine and saying " damn I died at 44" putting his head back and laughing that wonderfull laugh of his... I miss you Tod and when we meet again it will be like so many times before like it was yesterday.

Our dearest Tod, everyday I wake up, you are the first person that I think of and still cannot believe you are actually gone...we keep thinking you are away on a trip and that you will soon be back to us. You were such a healthy and positive soul that never judged anyone and just loved them unconditionally no matter what. It is not fair your life was cut short but then again, we all don't know what is in store for us wherever you are as I know you will be waiting for all of us with your amazing smile and warmth. You will always be thought of and loved our dear Tod...I am so grateful for the great times and memories that you left us with...I still feel your presence around us when we are together..Lots of love.

I like to think I "grew up" with Tod. We lived together for more than 6 years when we were in our 20's. 
We had some good times! Since then we always met for drinks or a night out, I loved it when he needed my help installing fixtures in his apartment or help with assembling new furniture. I still struggle with thought that he is not here. Tod is the first person I think about when I am looking to book a hotel or a trip somewhere and need advise. I miss Tod, I don't want to believe that it's true, I don't want to admit this world is without him.

I am a cousin to Tod and Jolene and attended the memorial service for Tod, two short weeks ago. There are no words to describe the grief that our family once again, must endure. Tod and Jolene were two very special people.
 In the time that Tod had on earth he lived life to the fullest and did more in his short life that most would do in a lifetime. I know his life is his legacy that he left with all of us, a lesson to live life to the utmost, to love and be loved by all. 
Jolene and Tod always had a special relationship and I want to share something that Jolene said to me two short weeks ago, at Tod's memorial service…
Jolene and I had the opportunity to share some quiet time together while I was in Edmonton for Tod's memorial service. We talked about Tod and how his death made no sense to all of us, why Tod.
We talked about her own battle with cancer and all that she had endured. She was so sick and tried so hard to keep up appearances even though she was sick to her stomach constantly and in pain. She had to be at Tod's memorial service and really, I don't think anything would have kept her away.
As we tried to make sense of Tod's passing, we sat there in silence then quietly Jolene said to me, Pam maybe Tod passed away so he would be up there for me when I go…I replied with tears in my eyes, no Jo, you will get better!! Then she said yes, but it brings me comfort knowing he will be there to meet me.
This is now what brings me some comfort, knowing that the special relationship that these two amazing people shared will continue in eternity. I know that Tod greeted her with his arms wide open, with that amazing smile and that Jolene is laughing with that infectious laugh and smile…asking …so what kind of trouble can we get into up here!!
They are together, two beautiful people who are now, two beautiful angels watching over all of us, until we meet again…

Tod's cousin Jolene our niece who  made an Oct 1 entry in the Guest Book passed away on Oct 12th. Jolene had a very rough 7 months and was extremely weak but made a point of attending a service we had for Tod in Edmonton on Sept 29th even though she had to make an 8 hour car ride enduring much pain.
 We love Jolene dearly and are sure Tod will be there for her, likely organizing a get together.
 We will miss them both deeply the rest of our lives.

Tod and I were first cousins, my number one cousin. I totally and truly admired everything he did and chose to do. I looked up to him, in my eyes Tod could do no wrong, he was like my brother. Uncle Tom and Auntie Lenore I am so sorry for the loss of your amazing young man. I love you Tod and will miss you deeply. Rest in peace Tod.

On Sept. 30, 1967 an Angel was brought into this world with a smile like summer sunshine , a spirit like a warm breeze, a gentle wind in the willow. This Angel was Tod Thomas Podollan beloved son of Lenore & Tom, he was so easy to love & Tod loved everyone deeply.
 They say there is no perfect person in this world but the Lord slipped one in & that was Tod. everyone who knew Tod would agree with me on this.
 I am honored & proud to have Tod as a nephew.
 Tod touched more people in his short 44 years then most of us will ever do.
 Each time I look at the sunshine & feel a soft gentle breeze on my face I will know it is that angel passing through, stopping for a moment to calm my soul.
 Gone too soon but in a better place.

Tod was the greatest loss that could have happened to us. We were extremely proud of what he accomplished in his life and were very lucky to have been his parents.
 We always knew how special Tod was and were extremely pleased to see how loved and appreciated Tod was by all his fantastic friends we finally met.   You were all so kind to us and welcomed us with open arms in your homes and most of all hearts.
 It was very easy to see why Tod loved his life in Vancouver he had the greatest true friends in the world there and if a friend  lived elsewhere you sought each other out. Anyone could only hope to have the people in his life Tod did.

It has been many years since I last saw Tod but I have never forgotten him.  We went to hairdressing school together and hung out together.  He was so much fun and a good friend. I am so sad to hear of his passing. My condolances go out to his family and his dear friend Andrew.

I will miss Tod's sharp wit and laughter.  I will miss our monthly Caesars at The Bayside and the two of us bonding through ganging up on Andrew making him laugh trying as he did to pretend he didn't love it! (haha)  You two is my boyz and always will be!  It took us years to get to know a bit about each other and I will truly miss getting to know more about him.  Tod was the most gracious host to me in Palm Springs and through his love and wonderful friends that he loved so much and spoke of with such love and high regard I have new friends who I will cherish as much as I did Tod.  It is apparent that Antonella and Lucy have not only lost a best friend but a brother as well; my heart goes out to you.  To all Tod's close friends that I've met, I know of your pain and I feel tremendous sorrow for your loss.  I can only imagine your pain and hope you all find comfort in memories in the near future that will ultimately surpass the sorrow.  To Tod's parents, it was a blessing to meet you; you are both amazing, loving, understanding people...it was clear that the apple did not fall far from the tree with Tod.  Lots of heartfelt love to you both and hopefully our paths will cross again under better circumstances.  To Tod's aunt Bev, it is also wonderful to know that Tod had such loving and spirited people to help mold him into the wonderful man he was.  To Andrew, my dearest friend...LOVE...to help you move forward. I do not worry about you because I know you can do anything with Tod's presence always near you.  You and I show our support in our own unique ways but we are always there for each other and always will be.

Tod was a great gift to me for the past ten years. His exceptional skill as a stylist extraordinaire and his warm and delightful personality made my visits to first Twizzle and then Hypnotik a joy. He will be deeply missed by many who were fortunate to know him. My sincere sympathy goes out to his family, his partner and his many friends.

The loss of Tod is beyond comprehension but I am so very thankful for the many years I spent working besideTodd. I feel very blessed to have shared many happy and sad moments in my life was such a wonderful caring person. We are just so sad.  Tod was a lovely man who spoke often about his trips with his parents and his visits with his grandmother.  Tod also spoke regularly about his very good friend in Wichita and is long-time friend from Edmonton.  

Tod told wonderful stories about his trips to South Africa and elsewhere with Andrew.  His smile and the warmth in is voice when he talked about Andrew said it all.  

Tod was so gentle and kind with our daughter Anna since her first haircut with him as a very small child. He brought her a wooden giraffe from Africa. He talked to her and listened just as though she was an adult.  He was always interested in how she was doing and seemed to recall everything we ever told him about her.  We treasure the pictures we have of Tod helping her with a special hairdo for her role as a flower girl in a wedding.

Tod created such a warm and welcoming place with his partners and co-workers at Hipknotik.  He seemed so relaxed and happy to be working with these special friends and colleagues. 

We are so sorry for the loss of this wonderful man and hope these memories help to support his family, Andrew and friends during this terribly difficult time.

We were fortunate to have known Tod for 20 years. What a wonderful young man! So well travelled, so thoughtful, and a superb stylist. His many friends and clients will miss him. Tod's parents can be very proud of their son. He was admired & loved by many.  We are very sad at this time but also grateful that we knew him.

Tod did my haircuts and colours for 18 years beginning on Broadway at Twizzle, but I also considered him to be my friend. He spoke highly of his parents and his grandmother always. You made me a better person in so many ways. You helped me through some of the darkest days of my life and always had me laughing.

You are the kind of person that one can only hope to meet in this lifetime. I am so lucky I had that opportunity!

Your genius as a stylist was throughly tested when I had Alopecia. How you made my hair look so awesome, shiny and full still amazes me! Was it shoe polish?

You had so many incredible qualities. Your compassion, sense of humor, and your appreciation for life were always so evident. You had great vision for the future and were always a wonderful listener advisor and confidante.

One of the things I loved about you was how you really lived and experienced every day to the fullest. Your enthusiasm was infectious.

To Andrew, Tom, Lenore and Rose,
Tod loved all of you so very much. He talked about all of the plans being made for family visits in Edmonton and Florida. Short jaunts to Palm Springs and what part of the world to explore next.

You were his friends, business partners, and support group as well as travel buddies. 
May all of the memories you made together guide you through this very sad time.

I feel very fortunate to have met you & could count you as a dear friend.  We have travelled together, laughed, enjoyed many meals, drank & celebrated together. As for so many of his clients, Tod was not just my hairdresser but also a wonderful friend and confidante – almost a counselor, actually.  He knew (and remembered) details about my family, my career, my latest travels, etc. from each appointment to the next. Although I was almost old enough to be his mother, Tod was like a treasured younger brother to me – always upbeat, always interested in what I had been doing, and always with a smile and his irreverent quick wit.  

I feel so lucky to have known Tod and to have received about 70 hours of ‘counseling' from him over the past decade.  As we all know, he was a wonderful and caring man and I will miss him dearly.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Andrew and to Tod's parents, family and friends. Tod was one of those very kind and generous people in this World that people hung onto because of his lovely soul and spirit for adventure. After knowing you for 20 years and having you cut my hair, my husband Marcel's hair and then my 2 kids' hair what can I say?!? We're all very sad and you will remain in our hearts forever.

I have only the happiest memories when I think of Tod.  From the days of hair school at Est'Elle Academy in Edmonton and clubbing at Flashbacks until the wee hours of the morning to spending some time together in Vancouver.  Tod would always make me laugh and had such a bright and sunny disposition, with such a kind, sensitive soul.  I will miss him dearly.
