Anthony Matthew Tyrone Waters passed away at his home way too soon, in his 37th year after battling illnesses for several years, He fought hard and never complained. Tony had so much to offer his family, friends, and his work. He was greatly admired at his job at TELUS where he went to work upon graduating from UBC, receiving numerous promotions. He had previously attended Vancouver College, Magee Secondary, and Gilmore Elementary in Richmond.
Tony was born at Grace Hospital in Vancouver to ecstatic parents Philip and Kaycee, who are jointly crushed by this tragedy after having lost Tony’s sister Mallory just 10 months previously. Tony started his journey moving to Port Alberni at 7 months old, then off to Richmond where he completed elementary school, and then finally to Vancouver for his High School, College, and University educations.
Tony will be remembered for his cheeky sense of humor, his encyclopedic knowledge of sports (primarily NFL and his Raiders, CFL and his Lions, NHL and his Canucks, and all the senior European soccer leagues and his Tottenham Hotspur), as well as his infinite knowledge and wisdom on world events. He was happiest on the ice with his Arbutus Club hockey mates.
He travelled much as a child with his sister, mum, Aunty Kelly, and grandmother Diane venturing as far as the United Arab Emirates, Hawaii, eastern Canada and much of southern BC.
Tony was quick to assist when help was needed, and 1st on board when trouble arose. He was generous, kind, and thoughtful, always putting himself behind others in trouble.
Tony is survived by his heartbroken father and partner Christine, devastated mother Kaycee and step-father Terry (Papa), as well as his Grandmother Lynne Waters and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Not forgetting his soul mates Bela and Hugo who provided so much love and devotion to him. Tony was predeceased by his grandfather Ron Waters (Lynne), grandfather George Jordan, grandmother Diane Basaraba, sister Mallory, Uncle Bill and cousin Adam Waters. He will be forever loved and missed madly. Rest In Peace and give your sister a big hug.
Thank-you to Tony’s friend Kirk for standing by him in his illnesses.
