With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Virginia, on August 25, 2025, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the age of 95.

Born in the Philippines on October 8, 1929, Virginia lived a life marked by warmth, resilience, and joy. In 1974, she made the courageous journey to Canada, building a new life filled with love, laughter, and family. She was the proud mother of five children; Cynthia (Ed), Alfredo (Ross), Cathy (Ed), Emilie (Mike) and Sandra (Will) and a devoted grandmother to ten cherished grandchildren (Jenny, Eric, Ryan, Matt, Ashley, Alex, Kathleen, Cydney, David, Myles), all of whom carry her legacy forward with pride.

Virginia had a zest for life and a deep love for the simple pleasures that made each day meaningful. She was happiest in her kitchen, where the aromas of her cooking brought everyone together. Her meals were legendary, lovingly prepared and generously shared. She had a beautiful voice and found great joy singing with her siblings, a bond that kept her connected to her roots.

Gardening brought her peace, and her green thumb could coax beauty from any patch of earth. She especially treasured fishing off the pier at Jericho Beach, where she found serenity in the sea breeze and gentle waves. But perhaps most of all, Virginia will be remembered for her generous spirit and her love of bringing people together. Her home was always open—whether for a grand holiday feast or a spontaneous gathering—filled with music, laughter, and the comforting presence of her hospitality.

She was the heart of her family and the soul of every celebration.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and joy. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her.

There will be a visitation for family and friends on Sunday August 31 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel 1835 East Hastings Street, Vancouver.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church 2881 Main Street, Vancouver on Tuesday September 2, 2025, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.
