Yin Yip Kwan was born in Toishan, China on December 22nd, 1952. He moved to Hong Kong when he was just a young child, where he eventually met his wife Wai Ching Kwan and married on August 1974. Together they both migrated to Vancouver, Canada in 1976 to start a family and had three daughters, Catherine, Joanna and Fiona.
He worked hard as a cook and provided his family a wonderful home to grow up in. Even when his daughters moved away from home, he would cook an elaborate dinner for his family to gather on a weekly basis. Yin especially enjoyed preparing wholesome Chinese soup for his granddaughters Kailey and Kara, because it was important for him to give them a healthy meal and ensure that they maintain an interest in Chinese food.
Yin was a very social person with a lot of friends, and his hobbies included swimming, cooking, traveling, dancing and walking his dog Barry. He was always ready to offer a helping hand to anyone in need, and maintained an optimistic view about life. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, luckily we will be reminded of his presence with all the happy memories he’s left behind for us.
