Yuk Ching Kong passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, in Vancouver, surrounded by her loved ones. To many she was Anne/Annie but to those closest to her she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, stepmother, aunt, great aunt, and friend whose quiet strength and generosity left a lasting mark on everyone she met.
Born in Hong Kong to Wing and Song Kong, Yuk Ching was the fourth of eight children. She grew up helping with the family farm, while attending school, learning early the values of hard work, discipline, and responsibility. Studious and determined, she made her way to Vancouver, where she attended Simon Fraser University and earned the degrees of Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Science.
In 1987, she met the love of her life, Dat Cheon Kong and they were married in in 1996. Together, they built a life grounded in mutual respect, shared effort, and a deep commitment to family.
Yuk Ching loved to travel abroad, experiencing new places and cultures. Over time, she poured that same curiosity and energy into her real estate license and into entrepreneurial ventures with her family. She was a partner in Stephen’s Café on Vancouver’s West Side and later Denman Garden Inn near English Bay, where she welcomed customers with her characteristic warmth and sincerity and where she forged relationships that grew into life-long friendships. She retired in 2000 to spend more time with her husband and family.
Family was always at the center of her life. For several years, she visited her mother almost every day at Purdy Pavilion at UBC, bringing lunch and sitting with her. Those daily acts of care spoke volumes about her convictions, her respect for tradition, and her deep kindness. She showed her love not through grand gestures, but through steady, unwavering presence.
Yuk Ching is predeceased by her parents, husband and stepson Ronny. She is lovingly remembered by her stepsons, Bark (Debra), Henry and Barry; her sisters San Lui Chow (Ngai), Yuk Ying Tong (Peter), Yuk Yin Wong, Yuk Lin (Mao Hung), Yuk Han and Yuk Yee and her brother Chi Yin (Hai Yun). She will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends whose lives were brightened by her generosity, humour, and steadfast support.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, therapists and the many dedicated medical and administrative professionals who provided such compassionate care to Yuk Ching.
A visitation will be held at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, located at 1835 E Hastings St, Vancouver, BC, V5L 1T3, Canada, on December 13, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
The funeral service will take place at the same venue on December 15, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
