Archie Raymond Gano
September 24, 1934 – January 4, 2019
Archie Raymond Gano, 84 of Battleground WA, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on September 24, 1934 in Longview, Washington to Max and Cozette Gano. He attended Springfield High School and the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Archie married Beverly June Johnson in March of 1966 in Vancouver, Washington.
Archie worked as a Geologist for many years with Peter Kiewit and Sons in Vancouver before his retirement in 1980. He was a Rock Hound and enjoyed the outdoors which included fishing, clamming and gardening. Archie loved cooking and traveling.
Archie is survived by his wife Beverly Gano of Battleground WA; daughters Crystal Hanson (Ron) of Eugene OR, Alicia Hercher (David) of Lake Oswego OR and Maureen Gano-Smith (Doug) of Snohomish WA and grandchildren Danielle Hanson, Nathan Hanson, Keely Smith and Ryan Smith. He was preceded in death by his son Richard Montgomery Gano in 2004 and his brother Daniel Gano.
A Celebration of Archie’s Life will be held in early March of 2019. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made as donations to Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver, Washington. Arrangements entrusted to Vancouver Funeral Chapel in Vancouver, Washington.
