Doris Kalvina Dockter, 91, of Vancouver, WA, passed away early on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Avamere of Cascade Park. She was born in Edmonds, WA on June 30, 1928 to Thorwald K and Amanda Pauline Nelson. She graduated from Edmonds High School in Edmonds, WA and also attended Pacific Bible College (Now Warner Pacific University) and graduated with a Christian Education Certificate. While there, she met the love of her life, Ralph. She married him on August 30, 1952 in Edmonds, WA. He preceded her in death in March 21, 2015 at his home in Vancouver, WA.

Doris put her family first and worked hard at being a good wife, mother, and daughter. She cared for her children and her home and assisted her husband in his ministerial work. She worked as hard saving money on household expenses as her husband worked making money. When her parents and aunt became elderly, she devoted countless hours assisting them. She was a member of Vancouver First Church of God. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crochet, travel, jigsaw puzzles and family gatherings. Doris is survived by a daughter, Karen Cardin (William), of Vancouver, WA and two sons, Michael Dockter (Cathy) and Brian Dockter (Sheryl), both of Edmonds, WA. She is also survived by grandchildren Alexander Cardin, Karlena Brailey, Amanda Cardin, Rebekka Ramirez, Annetta Carey-Fuson, Chris Dockter, Aaron Dockter, Robert Dockter, Philip Dockter, and Kristina Dockter, and over twelve great grandchildren. Doris was also preceded in death by her parents, Thorwald K and Amanda Pauline Nelson and her brother Kenneth Nelson.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 12 on Saturday, October 19, 2019 and a Memorial service will be held at 12 noon on the same day at the Vancouver Church at 3300 NE 78th St, Vancouver, WA 98665. A family graveside service will be held at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills in Lynwood, WA on Monday, October 21st at 12 noon.
