Gertrude passed away peacefully on December 9, 2017. She was born in Edmonton, Queensland, Australia to Peter and Annie (Hayers) Negri.
Gertie was a war bride, a wife, a mother and a grandmother. She married Glen Sumner on October 20, 1944 in Cairns, North Queensland, Australia. She came to the U.S. on the last military war bride ship. Later in 1952 she became a naturalized U.S citizen.
Gertrude is survived by her 2 sons; Pete and Greg Sumner of Vancouver, her brother Dominic Negri of Australia, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her spouse of 69 years, Glen Sumner and daughter Glenda Sumner.
Graveside services will be at Park Hill Cemetery on Friday Dec. 15, 2017 at 1:00pm.
