Born in Wiesbaden, Germany, his family came to New Jersey when he was 12 years old. He went on to a military career in the Army for 20 years which allowed him to visit other countries and become fluent in other languages. He then started another career in the international division of Burger King in the late 60’s, retiring in 1982. This took him to Australia and Europe where he opened the Burger Kings there.
Jack was a very loving man whose family and friends were most important to him. He enjoyed being out in nature, mushrooming, and gardening, cooking and traveling the world. He was member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a lifetime Mason, and the Oregon Mushroom Society. He also volunteered at the Slocum House and the Clark County Public Service Center.
Jack is survived by his wife, Bev; children Mark Ullman, Joan (Nelson) Burbank of Maine, Suzanne (Barry) Williams, Jeff Barsness, Todd (Cindy) Barsness, Chris (Natresa) Barsness and nine grandchildren.
